Juvederm is safe in all patients, as it is a sugar that is naturally already in your body. Best, Dr. Emer.
I've used Juvedern in a few patients under cancer treatment, and have not seen any major issue, but it would depend on your circumstances. Be sure to discuss with your own surgeon about how this applies to you, and whether they have any special concerns in your case.
Depends. If the cancer is (or was) where you are considering having the Juvederm placed (or even in the surrounding area) this should be discussed and cleared by your oncologist. However, if it is not (that is, not on the face) it is typically OK to have Juvederm treatments. Of note, the American Cancer Society performed a study and started a great program many years ago that showed patients who treat themselves to treatments such going to the hair salon, skin care products, or have other treatments to improve their appearance are more likely to feel better about themselves and even tolerate their cancer treatments better. The attached link provides more information about the American Cancer Society's "Look Good, Feel Good" program. I hope this helps.
Hello Aznsnoopy3895,The actual Juvederm product is not more dangerous in a patient with cancer than in a patient without. However, if you are actively undergoing treatment and your immune system is being suppressed (as with chemotherapy) or if you have had radiation to the treatment area then your risk of developing a complication such as an infection is higher. Make sure you discuss this and any active treatment you are receiving with your injector. I hope this helps and good luck.
In general, Juvederm dermal fillers can be used in cancer patients without significant safety concerns. There may be some concerns depending on the type of cancer you have and other related underlying health issues. These concerns can be reviewed with your dermatologist and oncologist prior to treatment.
Juvederm could be used safely in cancer patients IF the clotting is normal. If there is low platelets or problems with other clotting factors, it should be done only after consulting your oncologist.
I do not think that cancer per se affects the use of Juvederm. Nor do I expect Juvederm to affect the outcome of your cancer. However, certain kinds of cancer are associated with low blood platelet counts that make a patient more prone to bruising - something you should be aware of and prepare for. I suggest talking to your oncologist before your treatment.
I have used Juvederm in patients with various different kinds of cancer over the years with no trouble. Juvéderm is a natural substance called hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in our bodies. It should not be a problem however always best to doublecheck with the oncologist.
Having had a history of cancer per se is not a contraindication, but having said that, it is important that you let your professional injector be aware of your history. Take care
The biggest mistake patients make is not using enough product to get the result they are looking for.I would conservatively recommend based on the 1 photo and assuming the other eye that I can't see very well is as deep as the first one, I would recommend 1 to 2 syringes of product for each eye.
If there's great difference after 7-10 days of filler injection, it's best to visit your doctor to re-assess.
Thank you for your question. From what I understand, you had Juvederm 19 days ago to address under eye hollows. However, you’re concerned about some issues with swelling and pigmentation after the treatment, and you’d like to get some additional opinions on your situation.A little about my bac...
