I was injected with voluma on my jaw. It seems that the volume on my jaw is the same unless I bite down. After I bite down I can now see the filler and my face becomes more angular. If I'm not biting the back of my teeth down their is no difference.why is this?

Answer: Fillers and results using Voluma Its hard to tell without before and after pictures. What you describe is that when you bite down, you are clenching your masseter muscles, which are the jaw muscles that sit on the side of the angle of the mandible bone. Biting down, causes them to flex, hence you look more angled. If you compare your results to your before pictures, hopefully you will see a more angled jaw after the voluma placement. Sometimes more filler is required to achieve the requested results. Once again, its hard to determine exactly what will help unless we have pictures.

Answer: Voluma injection for the jaw line When you are biting down and clenching your teeth you are seeing the masseter muscle contract. As this muscle shortens with contraction it makes your jaw appear more defined and angular. Depending on the volume of your face it may require more of a filler to see a result (more subcutaneous fat the you have along your jawline, the more filler that it will require to show a difference). Voluma is indicated for malar (cheek) region and it can be used off label for bone augmentation, although this is a discussion that you should have with your injector as to which filler would work best for you. You do want a filler with a higher "G prime" number as this gives more lift of the subcutaneous tissue. You can always add more filler, so the best way to achieve the desired look is with a conservative approach and you may benefit from some additional filler.
