Pain when I blink my eye, 2 months after voluma in cheeks

Question

I am experiencing pain in my left cheek where the voluma is when i blink my eye. It only happens to my left eye, and it also hurts when I move the muscle in the left cheek region. When I first did voluma I did experience swelling and lumps which went away, there was a strange hypersensitivity like a pull of a nerve that tugs at my lower eyelid when i brush my finger over my left cheek. That eventually went away..

I suggest seeing a ENT for an evaluation and of course speaking to your injector.  Pain is not normal after filler injections.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. It is very likely that the Voluma is causing some form of compression that affects your facial expressions. I would visit with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is well-versed with injections to help analyze things in more detail.

Thanks for your question. You should discuss this with your physician injector.  A bundle of nerves exits the cheek bone just a couple centimeters below the midline of your pupil.  It is possible this nerve became irritated or damaged during the injection process.  The only way to know is to speak with your injector.  Best of luck to you!

Although I have not had this complaint, it is possible that that Voluma is irritating a nerve in your face. It is imperative that you return to your surgeon and have him/her evaluate you. Some of the things he/she might suggest is to use some gentle massage to the area. You can also take Ibuprofen which can lessen any irritation in that area and decrease the pain.
