Answer: Bump on my nose or is it from my glasses? The bump on your nose is not caused by your glasses and is usually an inherited characteristic. No one ever "needs" a rhinoplasty. It is an elective procedure and only you can determine if your nasal features concern you enough to do something about improving the cosmetic appearance of your nose and whether it would be worthwhile. Following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on limited 2 dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasal surgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Additional information about the procedure will help you decide if it is a procedure that you want to pursue.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California

Answer: Nasal evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. This is not from your glasses. It is the natural way your nose has grown. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. You may also benefit from a nasal tip deprojection and a conservative dorsal hump reduction. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Bump vs glasses Thank you for your photo. You have a dorsal hump which is caused by your natural nasal bones and cartilage and not by the glasses you wear. Your tip appears droopy relative to your convex dorsal hump, but this can be corrected at the same time as your dorsal hump with a rhinoplasty. If you wish to avoid surgery all together, a non surgical rhinoplasty can be performed with filler will help blend the angles of your nose to make the lines appear more smooth and proportional. This can be performed with a hyaluronic acid filler such as VOLUMA which can also be reversed with a hyaluronidase injection in case you do not like the look. Surgical rhinoplasty is permanent with more downtime. For the best treatment options, it is important to visit an expert for an in-person examination. Johnson C. Answer: I have worn glasses since age 9, due I have a bump on my nose? The bump on the nose is composed of both bone and cartilage and does not appear to be related to wearing glasses. A Rhinoplasty procedure involves shaving down the dorsal hump, and then osteotomies placed in the nasal bones will be required to close the open roof created from the hump removal.
