Should I expect there to be a change in the appearance of my vulva after a mini-abdominoplasty? How common is this? Is it something I should expect to occur? I have heard post-operative stories of the labia becoming skinnier and/or "pulled up" after a TT and am wondering if this is typical or not.

Answer: Save Is a change in appearance of vulva after tummy tuck normal? Thank you for sharing your question! Oftentimes a tummy tuck will result in a subtle lift to the lower pelvis, or mons, region. There are ancillary procedures that can be done based on your desires so definitely discuss this with your surgeon. Hope this helps.

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. If good technique is employed, then the vulva should not have a "pulled" appearance after a tummy tuck. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
