Mini tummy tuck: skin only swelling, 2 weeks post-op.

Question

Hi I am 13 days post miny tummy tuck I only had excess skin removed as my muscle one is old and I didn't require any lipo of any kind. I had the procedure done under local and evening went smoothly just wondering how long it I likely for any swelling to subside. My scar I healing well :)

Congratulations on your procedure!  The majority of swelling will have resolved 3-6 months after surgery, though it will be longer for you to see your final results.  To promote optimal recovery be sure to closely follow your surgeon's post operative instructions and keep her/him aware of any concerns.

Swelling is not uncommon post-op. Usually, it takes around 6 months or so before the swelling subsides. You are still early in the healing process and your body is still recovering. It would be best to contact your surgeon regarding your concern as he knows your condition best and you could schedule an appointment with him for a check up to rule out any complications.

The lumpiness, swelling, itching and hardness after a surgery like you had typically persists at least 8 weeks after the surgery then slowly goes away. In my experience, daily massage of the hard areas makes the biggest difference in getting rid of it sooner rather than later. It can easily take 6 months or more to see results. Your scars will usually flatten and fade between 9-12 months but can sometimes take closer to 18 months. Scar fading depends on your genetics. Be sure to keep any scheduled follow up appointments you have with your surgeons for his evaluation and advice. Hope this helps.
