Could you please have a look at pics of my scars from Blepharoplasty done 4 weeks ago and tell me if that looks correct to you? First of all is the length of the cut normal ? It seems like people have way shorter cut. And is it normal that my scars are still so red ? I don’t see any change since 2 weeks. I put kelo-cote twice a day but no change. Will appreciate your answers. Thank you in advance. B.
Answer: You are only 1 month out from surgery and it can take months for the redness to fade. While treatment like Kelo-cote is very popular with both surgeons and patients, the studies on its effectiveness are very weak. It may be no better than time alone in improving the appearance of your scars. Regarding the design of these scars, that are not out of line with what I see from many surgeons. Having said that, it is not idea to make the crease so high or the excision so wide. While the craftsmanship of the surgery is clearly evident, the design of these incision do not take advantage of the upper eyelid crease to completely hide the incision. I believe that having no evidence of surgery is sometimes more important than "getting every last bit of skin." Sometimes bumptious surgeons have to do their thing no mater what. "Go big or go home" may be a great locker room motto but it is generally a problem in the plastic surgery suite. Let the eyelid heal. There is really nothing that can or should be done at the moment. Once the eyelids are healed about 4 to 6 months, if they are still bothering you, they can be assessed for revisional surgery. There are many options once the eyelids are more healed. Don't get talked into a laser treatment as this will not fix the problem. Generally we use structural surgery to lower the upper eyelid crease and help hide some of these scars.

Answer: Resurfx laser combined with melarase creams to help with pigmentation Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Blepharoplasty scars Nearly all eyelid surgery scars heal quite nicely after a few months. The early healing phase of scar maturation varies from patient to patient. At this point of your healing your look fine, expect the scars to be nearly invisible after a few months.

Answer: Healing Your incisions do appear a bit high but you are only 4 weeks out from surgery. As noted below your incisions will continue to mature over several months. Please follow closely with your surgeon. If unhappy after having healed there still remain options, a number of which have been described below. Best of luck!

Answer: 4 weeks post blepharoplasty First, I would wait 6 months to see if you are happy after complete healing. Your incision lines are not placed in the natural eyelid crease and consequently the incision lines are more obvious. Secondly, when the incision is high and no brow lift is performed, you will see a tremendous difference in the skin quality at the incision. This makes the incision line obvious. You have options down the road if you are not happy with the appearance - either surgical revision and/or laser treatment. Best wishes.
