When will chalazion scar tissue subside? And my eye look normal? (photo)

Question

Had 3 chalazion surgeries in 3 months. Went to ophalmologist again yesterday. Said there is no chalazion or infection, only scar tissue. Is there any further action i need to take other than good eye hygiene? Sick of this red spot on my eye. It hurts a little bit.

Hello and thank you for sharing your photo. I recommend attending all follow up visits with your ophthalmologist. This will help ensure your chalazion surgery heals properly. There appears to still be remnants of the chalazion on the outside of your eye. This type of cyst can sometimes require more than one treatment. I recommend asking your ophthalmologist/ Oculo-plastic surgeon about this and about what treatment options are available to you.

Was the lesion removed from the inside? If it was, then after 3 months the remaining scar tissue may have to be removed. It seems you still may an external component. This can also be removed through a tiny incision on the skin with minimal to no scarring.
I see patients like yourself in my practice all the time. Sometimes a deeper dissection is required to remove all the tissue.
