I received an open upper blepharoplasty, a suture upper blepharoplasty and ptosis repair 3 months ago. After the swelling went down, I noticed that my eyelids are still drooping and my eyes look smaller because the drooping eyelids are now covering my lashes. Should I be concerned? I am 55 years old.

Answer: You may still have swelling I agree your right lid is lower than left. However, it appears that you still have some swelling of the upper eyelids. Swelling and inflammation often take longer to resolve after Asian Blepharoplasty. There are other considerations as well such as how the ptosis repair was done. Internal ptosis repair is more predictable and symmetry may manifest as inflammation subsides. Continue to follow up with your surgeon and allow more time for swelling to improve. If there is not improvement after 6-12 months, a revision could be considered. Best, Pradeep Pradeep Mettu, MD Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Raleigh, NC
