After extensive research, I chose Jonathan Britto for my upper and lower blepharoplasty, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. From my very first interaction with Jessica, his secretary, the experience was seamless—she was incredibly helpful in organizing appointments and keeping everything on track.
During my initial consultation, Jonathan took the time to explain the procedure in detail, which immediately put me at ease and gained my trust. One of my biggest concerns was being conscious during surgery, so I opted for twilight anesthesia. I can honestly say it felt like the surgery lasted only 20 minutes instead of three hours! I remember very little, and the best part was that I was eating, drinking, and back home within hours. The anesthetist was also fantastic, clearly explaining what to expect and ensuring I felt comfortable throughout.
Now, just two weeks post-op, I’m confident that I made the right choice. Jonathan and his team provided outstanding care, and I truly felt I was in the best hands.

My experience with Dr. Britto has been exemplary in every way. After having consulted with three other oculoplastic surgeons I arrived decisively on Dr. Britto as a result of his extensive experience with complex cases and his admirable bedside manner. It was obvious to me that Dr. Britto is a very intelligent and careful surgeon, one of those rare doctors who prioritise adherence to his Hippocratic Oath to “first do no harm” above the prospect of financial gain from a new customer. For me the best test for integrity is when I find a professional who is willing to tell me “No” and to communicate inconvenient truths; to find someone who is willing to spell out for me in advance both the risks and opportunities of a procedure. Eyes wide open! When you find someone who has carefully considered what could go wrong, then that is exactly the person who is fully engaged and best empowered to put the necessary plans in place to effectively manage the risks to ensure the very best possible outcome.

That was my experience with Se. Britto during the four preliminary consultations before going under the knife. From the moment I first met Dr. Britto I was able to discern that he is detail-oriented, discerning, meticulous, calm, considerate, and professional. The same goes for the team of people with whom he surrounds himself: the receptionist, the nurses, the anaesthetist, the OR nurse, etc. His is a well-oiled machine. Pre and post communication is consistently excellent throughout.

I was particularly impressed by the relationship between Dr. Britto and the anaesthetist. They carefully consulted with me in my private room before the procedure, which was performed under “twilight” sedation. The purposes and functions of each compound to be administered during the procedure were discussed with me in detail, elevating my fears about not being fully unconscious. In fact, the benefits of the twilight approach have guaranteed the most aesthetic outcomes. The only thing I remember from the 3-hour procedure was near the very end when he began the suturing, when I was occasionally asked to blink, close my eyes, and squint a little. I saw nothing due to the little blinder-cups that had been placed i over my eyeballs. I heard only the calm and reassuring voice of Dr. Britto giving me a few, simple little commands. It couldn’t have been easier. I felt absolutely nothing and was in a state of what I imagine Nirvana to be: perfectly comfortable and relaxed, calm and joyful, peaceful. I expect the expert administration of propofol and fentanyl and (amongst other drugs which produce amnesia) had something to do with my perception of the apparent ease of the procedure. To me I felt only awake for the last five minutes— and inly learned that I was in “twilight sleep” for three hours before that! I have no memory of any sensations at all except peacefulness and blinking. No PTSD.

I was beautifully cared for after the procedure within my beautiful and quiet private room, where given something to eat and drink, as well as medication and instructions to take home.

I had been given preoperative instructions about three weeks before my surgery date, which I recommend carefully reading before the surgery. The thick ointment which is applied ti the eyes after the procedure renders the fine focus necessary for reading text on paper difficult.

Also noteworthy was the direct Britto-to-patient a cess I enjoyed via Whatsapp. The postoperative questions I had were quickly addressed by Dr. Britto via Whatsapp, and a day-two face-to-face meeting on a Saturday was even arranged in order to assure me that everything appeared normal and was preceding according to plan. This allowed me to rest in peace during those three days of swelling post procedure.

I am one month in now, and my eyes and mid-face are taking shape nicely. The bruising is mostly faded now. Swelling is about 60% gone. Festoons and deep circles under my eyes are completely gone. Eyelids look perfect.

I cannot fault Doctor Jonathan Britto who took exceptional care of me before during and after my procedure.
The problem was with my eyelids and surrounding areas, which I discovered is an intensely complex part of the body with a host of small muscles performing minute tasks to keep the eyelids in position and stable. He described exactly what procedure was required and how it would be performed, and I would enjoy a full recovery and aesthetic improvement in the relevant area.
The aftercare was quite exceptional and always with the proviso that if I suffered any discomfort or concern during the recovery I should not hesitate to contact him and come to his surgery for consultation.
On a personal level he is a quite engaging gentlemen, I was always accompanied by my wife and he by the aesthetician Karen Sargeant (a special mention here for her valuable input and charming manner) and we enjoyed excellent professional advice and guidance along with relaxed social interaction.
It was notable throughout that Dr Britto is passionate about his very special skill and is constantly seeking to improve techniques and studying his subject relentlessly.
I would not hesitate to recommend anybody to this exceptionally skilled doctor.

Finding Jonathan Britto to carry out my face lift needs was one of the best things I've done.

I did not expect this level of aftercare and this demonstrates Mr Britto is a compassionate and professional surgeon with his patients interests at heart.

I did a lot of research before I set up my mind to have a consultation with Mr Britto. I was very apprehensive thinking about complications which could occur. Mr Britto was very approachable. I was greeted with kindness and understanding. All my questions were answered with great details which made me feel more relaxed about the whole process. The personal care and aftercare were exceptional too. I followed all the post advice to the letter and I am pleased to say that the end result was very satisfying and the whole experience a great success. I am very grateful to have recovered a degree of youthfulness I could never imagine possible. I love my new face and enjoy the confidence it has brought me.

5+ star experience. From the initial consultation to the follow up appointments have been nothing short of incredible. Dr Britto is extremely skilled and has a really caring & calming presence. He’s so professional & knowledgeable, going into great detail about different ways he could do the surgery and what he recommended for my body and why. The most important part was he listened to what I wanted and delivered phenomenal results that were better than I could have dreamed. I had a lower face and neck lift..

Arriving at the Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford I was welcomed.. The nurses were incredibly attentive..I was prepped for surgery.. The anaesthetist and Jonathan Britto came to see me to clarify any last-minute questions or wishes that I may have.. I have had other procedures with Mr Britto so I new I was in good hands..The Anaesthetic I was about to have is called Twilight anaesthetic.It was the best experience I have had in surgery..You are awake but in the most peaceful place..You can here you can speak you can move if requested with not one bit of pain..It really was amazing..Today I feel completely myself.. of course a little sore from my surgery..I don’t have The normal sore throat and fuzzy feeling I would experience with a general anaesthetic which can stay in your system for days..

Looking forward to enjoying how my lower face and neck used to look..

Jonathan is the best in the business. Not only is he a genius who looks at the face with the eye of an artist he is simply the nicest person you could hope to meet. He transformed my face achieving a natural, youthful look. Not a hint of pillow face just a refreshed face and eyes that now open correctly which has improved my vision too! He is so much fun to be with that it is impossible not to feel relaxed and in great hands. And the after care doesn't stop - he makes himself available to answer any concern at all. I recently had my sixth-month surgical review with Mr. Jonathan Britto and am using the occasion to write about the experience of my surgery on realself. In December 2021 Mr. Britto performed an Open Submental Re-contouring procedure on my neck, known colloquially as a ‘Z-plasty’. The effects of ageing and gravity had transformed that area into something more akin to a turkey’s neck – which caused me to feel self-conscious. I hadn’t quite arrived at the point of only wearing roll-neck jumpers, yet had begun to seriously consider the idea.

I consulted Mr. Britto about my wrinkled neck and slackening jaw-line. (Three years previously he had performed a Blepharoplasty on me with astounding results. I am still delighted with the surgical outcome).

Mr. Britto very clearly explained the various surgical options available to me from a lower-face lift to the Z-plasty procedure. The latter having the advantages of being less ‘radical’, quicker to heal and most importantly for a man, the absence of tell-tale, visible ‘lift’ scars above my ears. Moreover, Mr. Britto explained that the Z-plasy procedure would allow him to remove my neck wrinkles as well as tightening the skin covering my jawline.

Mr. Britto explained the Z-plasty surgical procedure in detail along with its aesthetic objectives. He spent a great deal of time with me and indicated through drawings where his incisions would be made under my chin and above my Adam’s apple. He assured me he would keep visible scaring to a minimum. He actually did better than that. I can’t see them at all.

My surgery was done under ‘twilight sedation’ (an alternative to general anaesthetic). Post-surgery pain and bruising were minimal as was swelling. After a week Mr. Britto removed the bandages and stitches. I was then able to see the time-reversing effects of his extremely considered and skilful surgical abilities. My turkey neck had disappeared - replaced by smooth, unwrinkled skin and I was even given back a discernible jaw-line. I was truly happy with what Mr. Britto had achieved. His sensitive and well-judged surgical abilities gave me back the confidence to wear open necked shirts again. I haven’t even thought about roll-neck jumpers since my surgery.

Mr. Britto is an enormously caring, diligent and gifted surgeon. His calm, rational manner is reassuring and trust-building. His ability to impart knowledge and clearly simplify complex medical procedures is impressive. I have never left a consultation with Mr. Britto feeling confused or doubtful. He is a first-class, highly accomplished cosmetic/reconstructive surgeon. I am extremely fortunate to have met him and am even more pleased with the outcome(s) of his work. I recommend Mr. Britto unstintingly to anyone seeking an expert ‘cosmetic’ surgeon who aims for natural-looking, yet transformative results, and who by chance, is a genuinely likeable man.
