Two weeks ago I had a little bit of bleeding at the back of my nose while cleaning it, and my doctor told me not to worry because I was doing several nasal saline rinses per day followed by blowing my nose, causing the tissue to weaken and a blood vessel to bleed. I stopped blowing my nose and started rinsing once a day, and it went away until today. My nose was stuffy so I blew it a little (allergies), it's only just a tinge on the Q-tip, but should I be worried about having these many bleeds?
Answer: Bleeding seven weeks after rhinoplasty Significant nosebleeds after rhinoplasty are rather rare, but can happen in the first two weeks after the procedure that may require nasal packing if they do not respond medical management. A small amount of bleeding seven weeks later is insignificant, and is nothing to worry about

Answer: Rhinoplasty Post Op Bleeding Moonlit_eyes, I suggest you consult your board certified facial plastic surgeon to receive the highest quality knowledge, treatment, care and skill available. Your surgeon also knows your body from monitoring you throughout the pre-surgery, surgery and post-op process. In general, it is also important to avoid any activities that cause the heart rate to accelerate.Increased blood pressure could result in more swelling and this increases the possibility of developing a nosebleed.

Answer: Bleeding after Rhinoplasty Nasal membranes are delicate structures. They warm, humidify, and filter the air that we breathe. After nose surgery, the membranes are often very fragile. You may want to ask your surgeon if using a vaporizer at night instead of the nasal rinses might be appropriate. Either the nasal rinses may be too aggressive, your allergies are creating more swelling on top of post surgical swelling, or your work and sleep environments are very dry. Possible solutions include taking an antihistamine, humidifier, nasal sterloids and not blowing your nose too hard. I would encourage you to discuss these options with your surgeon.

Answer: Bleeding after rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. It is typical to have some bleeding from any surgery during the healing phase. At 7 weeks it is a little less common, but can happen if there is an exposed vessel or area in your nose that is slow to heal. I would not be overly concerned, but it is worth seeing your surgeon for an exam. He may be able to treat an area in your nose that will stop the bleeding. Best of luck.

Answer: Bleeding Thanks for your question. In general bleeding is by far the most common issue after a nasal surgery. It sounds like you have only had small amount of bleeding which can be due to any number of factors that your surgeon mentioned. Obviously you should remain in contact with your provider in regards to your concerns but it sounds as if you are having a very minor issue that is not abnormal. Chances are things will continue to heal just fine. I usually recommend an ointment to help keep the nasal mucosa moist. Hope this helps.
