This is a belated neck and bottom facelift review for Dr Magilke. I did it when I was 48, I'm now 50. The work was amazing and I look so much better without the loose skin on my neck/lower face. The whole process was quiet smooth, and I highly recommend him.
The entire office is helpful, accommodating and reassuring. Dr. Magilke is a very skilled surgeon who made me feel comfortable throughout. I love my results and am so happy I did it! I was very nervous about having surgery on my face but I’m very happy I did.
I’m 43 and starting to see changes in my neck I’m not thrilled about. Dr Magilke was super helpful in answering all of my questions and what’s involved with a neck and lower face lift. He was not at all discouraging about the procedure and was more than willing to work with me, but did note I’m on the younger side for this procedure and not too bad off yet. I even got to see a patient in person who works in the office and I was astonished when she shared her true age with me - I honestly thought she was 15 years or more younger and looked fabulous. Her face and neck are a true testament to Dr Magilke’s skill and put me at ease about getting such a procedure. Since I’m still a little on the younger side for this procedure because there is the trade off of scars (albeit practically imperceptible) for the payoff and I don’t think I’m ready just yet. Funny enough I left the appointment feeling much more confident about my neck than prior to it. I’m going to wait 3 years later to have the procedure, by then I’ll be ready for the trade off and trust I’ll be in good hands with Dr Magilke.
For several years I have noticed my aging neck area getting worse. I knew I had to do something. It was the first thing I would look at in any of my photos. My sister had it done years back and she looked gorgeous. It was my turn and I am so glad I did it. I am 56 yrs young NOW. I googled all the Doctors in the Portland, Oregon area. Read all reviews and made my appt with Dr. Magilke. He explained in detail the procedure and I made my appt for 3 weeks from that date. I prepared a dog walker, a ride from the Doctors office, a bunch a meals and ordered a upright bed pillow to sleep sitting up. The procedure was painfree with local anesthesia. I just heard music playing and what felt like mins...it was over. The hardest day the 1st night: nausea & I vomited & Day #2 when I finally got my gauge removed. It felt GREAT to have my hair shampooed by the nurse (day 2). Doctor gave me great pain pills & nausea meds. I did not need drains. I am at 15 days post op now (in the pic) and I am very happy!
Outstanding! Dr. Magilke is professional and attentive. His staff is competent and reassuring, answering every question I had. I was given a complete estimate of cost at the time of my exam, as well as payment options. He went fully over what to expect during surgery and recovery.
At the first visit I could sense the confidence the team had in Dr. Magilke's abilities. They didn't need to "seal the deal" with anything other than professionalism and knowledge of the procedure. The Dr. answered my questions quickly and explained what he could accomplish. I'm a male in my late 20's an I had a minor bump on the bridge of my nose and it was also slightly bent, to be honest it didn't really bother me much but mouth breathing while sleeping was getting old. The initial quote hurt my eyeballs at first, but I figured looking for a bargain to be silly. The folder I got was thorough with info on before, day of, an after care instructions. It was a luxury to have this done in the office, relaxing and comfortable. The Dr. called the next morning and said it went well, a week went by with little pain and a whole lot of mystery as to how this turned out. Seeing the changes when he removed the cast was unreal! Where were the scars? The swelling? What I saw blew my expectations outta the freaking ocean. My nose now looks naturally straighter, subtle, and more symmetrical. I didn't realize until after seeing it corrected just how much it improved my face's overall presentation (like I said better than I could've imagined). Despite all of my concerns This turned out to be very worth it in every facet. Props again to the charming and attractive team as well as the anesthesiologist. Dr. Magilke is a born artist and I'm really glad he chose his profession. I hope this review is helpful, when I was researching the topic I found it kinda challenging to find up to date reviews.
I had a baby at 42 and didn't sleep for over two years...That being said, I aged exponentially and was really bothered by puffy bags under my eyes and also loss of fullness and those pesky "11's!' I initially went to see many people for consultations and started last summer doing botox and some fillers. I avoided the tear trough area, as it scared me and i wanted to be cautious to find the right Dr. I had some filler put below my mouth area and the Dr. I saw really overfilled my face there and i looked really blocky and strange.....So I went by recommendation by several people not related to one another in life, and found Dr. Magilke. I am so glad I did because he seems to really be the best! I am so pleased with my results. What a conservative and artistic eye he has. My tears trough area took a long time to reveal the final results...about a month. What a huge difference!!!
Doctor Magilke is really really good. I had my upper eyelids done and am very happy. My wife had her lower and upper eyes done also, and is very happy also. The staff is excellent, and makes you feel welcome. I highly reccomend him. Its great to see my eyes open evenly now. Love it. When you have this procedure you will need to wear sweat pant there and a loose button up shirt. You will have an iv put in your arm, which dosent hurt at all. Then you drift off to sleep. There is some minor swelling and you will need to stay down for a couple days, using ice packs, off and on. There will be a little bruising, so you should take a week or two off. You go back in a week for your stiches out.
I'm a 44 year old male who wanted to have ear pinning (otoplasty) done since I was a child. I finally had the funds (and courage) to do it last month. I'm so glad I did the research that led me to Dr. Magilke! I decided to have my upper eyelids done same time as my otoplasty, since both surgeries together were less than having them done separately. It's been almost a month since the surgeries and I feel and look great. The incisions are barely noticeable when examined, but the work is such a dramatic improvement that I feel like a new man. Thank you Dr. Magilke and staff at the 'Portland Face Doctor'!
I went to a different doctor for my lower eye lid surgery. That doctor (won't mention any names) did a bad job on my eyes. I wanted three months to be sure all swelling was gone. I went to a consult with Mr Magilke, he was very professional, he explained that I would continue to heal for up to a year and he would not touch me until that year was up. He gained my respect at that moment, other surgeons tried to talk me into fillers, botex and one was even willing to operate. I waited the year, hating how I looked. Made the appointment and underwent his skillful knife. I am so pleased with my results. People are actually guessing my age ten years younger than I am. The whole experience with this doctor and all of his staff was wonderful. It is one of the best experiences I have had. I was also going to a different doctor for my botex infections. Was loyal to that doctor until David pointed out my eyebrow was sagging due to to much botex in my forehead. He lowered the amount of botex needed for the results I desire. If you want a wonderful surgeon, one that is honest, trustworthy and not in it just to take your money, you have to see Dr David Magilke, he is the best.
Thanks for your question. Doing a tummy tuck and a facelift at the same time is not unreasonable, and can sometime be done by the same surgeon, or two separate surgeons cooperating as a team. However, it can be difficult to find a surgeon who truly specializes in both procedures and coordinating two surgeons schedules can be difficult as well. While it may be convenient to have a combination surgery, the most important issues is getting the best result from each individual surgery. Good Luck.
Thanks for your question. Ideally waiting a year after surgery is best, but 6 months is okay in some cases. You don't "need" a rhinoplasty, but it would help improve your appearance and breathing if you are bothered by your nasal deviation. Addressing the external and internal nasal anatomy at the same time often allows the surgeon to achieve superior breathing and aesthetic results. The CT does show your septal deviation extending to the dorsum, so addressing the bridge at the same time as septoplasty makes a lot of sense. Good Luck.
Thanks for your question and photo. At 6 days is normal to have some redness around the sutures and incision. It is not extending to the local area, so does not look infected. If you are at all concerned, however, it is always good to talk to your doctor. The area should heal without difficulty, based on your photos. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. If you have facial expressions that bother you and you would like to soften, treating them every 3 months year round will give you the most consistent and best result. If you would rather use it only for "special seasons", then summers are great if you want to address crowsfeet that you see when squinting in the sunshine. Winters are great if you don't want to frown during the holidays. There is nothing special about the weather or seasons that changes the affectiveness of BOTOX. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. BOTOX can take about 2 weeks to have full affect, and typically lasts 3 months. At 8 weeks you should have your full affect in force. Occasionally if you relax facial muscles, the untreated muscles around the region can appear "hyperactive" by comparison. It may also be possible that attempts to move the treated area can "recruit" adjacent muscles and appear as spasms. However, BOTOX should not induce a new neurologic disorder. If you are having unusual movements after treatment I would see your BOTOX provider first before seeing a neurologist. Best of luck.
