Black Celebrities rhinoplasty getting the better results than the general population? (photo)

Hello, I'm looking for a good rhinoplasty surgeon who has great results with ethnic (black) patients. However, the majority if not 99% of the before and after pictures are not a dramatic enough change for my taste. I would like to find a surgeon who gives an extreme approach. It seems that I've only seen these types of drastic changes associated with Black celebrity noses. Is it possible that the reasons these particular celebrity noses look this good is due to possible revisions over the years?

You are somehow fully right; if anyone takes the time to google images of b&a cases of black or asian origin (the really most difficult top ethnic rhinoplasties, requiring massive grafting and 4-6 hours of surgical time), each of us may express the same: "how come! the after is so similar if not identical to the before look!!!".Reason's mix for this is the extreme difficulty of black and asian (specially Filipino) noses, the fatigue of such long procedures for the surgeon, the very expensive cost of a long and top-notch multigraft procedure, the required training and skills due (hard to meet in a single surgeon), the marketing issues (letting a patient know his/her procedure is going to be a pricey or even unaffordable technical nightmare is not a top seller, obviously...), etc.So surgeons normally take a shortcut and perform a complimentary procedure in a short time and 2-3 technical gestures, leading thus to disappointing and minimal enhancements.On the other hands we have, also mentioned by you, the multi-staged ethnic afroamerican or asian noses, multi-staged because every procedure or surgeon adds a new layer of maneuvers or skills to supplement or correct the previous work (when, ideally and in real good hands, all should be applied at once in a standalone procedure).Furthermore, in some cases the surgeon is bold and brave enought to try the full-set of ethnic overhaul.. and end in poor or botched results... as in many of the exampled you have very suitably posted; some of the cases shown in your question have very poor or bad results, fake tips, sunken dorsums, collapses, etc.In summary, it is not relevant you are a celebrity or not to get a complete work and a radical change for your ethnic nose, actually IMHO normal individuals get much better rhinoplasties (and cosmetic surgery in general) than VIP ones (reasons are varied, but is a fact, we all have in mind examples).The key is finding a very good surgeon of complex noses with solid experience and... understand your afroamerican, asian or arab (among other) taking 4-6 hours nose can't cost the same than a basic reduction rhinoplasty done in a snap. If you want to make it more affordable do consider travelling abroad, there are excellend afroamerican nose surgeons outside the US.A bunch of good images would be required to provide overal assessment of your case.

There are only a few surgeons who actually do celebrity rhinoplasty.  99% of surgeons do not, and just comment and talk about it.  Find a surgeon carefully by word of mouth.  Celebrities don't use google. They trust word of mouth referrals.

Those of us who do AA celebrities find their goals are like the general population--some want less drastic change and some want more. Discuss your goals with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who does many AA noses--remembering that celebrities don't admit to having had cosmetic surgery!

Good question, thank you for bringing this up. 
We have to remember that what "good" is, looks different for every person.  Some patients may want a very drastic change and want a very tiny sharp nose.  However, many black patients want more definition in their nose, but do not want a tiny "barbie nose."  For patients who want a subtle change, I take pride in performing a rhinoplasty that gives improvement but still blends with their face and looks natural. For many people, they want an change but they don't want to lose their ethnic identity.  So keep in mind that many of the photos you see might be exactly what the patient asked for.  I see many patients who want a natural appearance, but that doesn't mean I can't do a more extreme look if the patient wants!
Meet with a surgeon and look at their pictures, get a feel for what they can do for you.

Hey, that's a great question.  There are plenty of great plastic surgeons who get good results in "ethnic" rhinoplasty, and lucky for you I can think of a couple in your area.  Look for a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who does a lot of rhinoplasty.  Good luck!

Everyone's skin is different and the amount that it will contract to the new shape after nose surgery really depends on the individuals nose prior to surgery. Most of the black celebrities that you show are mixed and probably started with thinner skin. Some, like Michael Jackson didn't and he had way too many and lost the tip of his nose. One has to be careful and know and impress upon the patient realistic expectations.

Dear thicky2004, Keep in mind that when you see before and afters in many surgeons offices the noses that you are looking at were specifically designed to meet the goals of those patients. When patients come in wanting a more drastic change then this can be achieved in most patients. The limiting factors are the patients nasal anatomy including skin thickness. I would suggest that you seek consultation with some experts in the field and have imaging performed to show you the proposed changes. If these proposed changes are in fact desirable to you then you can decide to move forward with the procedure. Many surgeons offices including mine have before and after photographs that are available in office for patients review that are not available on the internet due to patients wishes. You must consider the appearance of the nose before rhinoplasty surgery. A beautiful woman can get a much better result than a lady who is not as attractive with a worse nose before the operation. This is true whether the patient is a celebrity or not. I can give you many examples of celebrities who are improved but do not have a great nose after surgery. It is important to have an experienced surgeon establish clear expectation for you before the surgery.

A couple of the pictures are affected by the camera focal length (wide angle-wide nose:  zoom lens narrow nose) or smiling but I agree with you that they all show dramatic and lovely results.  For AA patients with thinner skin and stronger cartilage the potential for such change is better.  Do you research until you find a plastic surgeon who shows you his/her impressive results before making your selection.   Regards and enjoy the video above for additional info,

First, everyone is different.  What exactly can be performed will be discussed in an in-office visit.  Computerized imaging may help. Significant changes to any nose, including an AA nose is possible.  Simply discuss your goals with a COMPETENT surgeon with AA experience and they will let you know what to expect.  Best wishes.
