How to avoid abdominal rippling and strange belly button after Brazilian Butt Lift?

The only way to avoid rippling or belly button distortion is finding a plastic surgeon who is experienced with liposuction.  There are many techniques that I use to help minimize rippling and contour deformities.  Look at your plastic surgeon's before and after photos and make sure you're happy with his/her results.

Great question!  To avoid rippling, the surgeon should take time to be careful with the procedure itself.  The cause for rippling is either too much is taken out of one area or fat was taken out too close to the skin.  Additionally wearing compression garments consistently will prevent much of the rippling and will smooth some of these small tiny contour irregularities.  As far as the belly button goes, its not that the procedure itself causes a strange looking belly button, the fact is when volume is removed, often times you are left with extra loose skin.  The excess loose skin sometimes hangs over the top of the belly button causing it to look strange.  Liposuction is a volume not a skin procedure.  Often times, the compression garment with compress the skin and it will scar down tight.  However if this does not happen, patients can get skin tightening lasers to improve the appearance of the belly button.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai  @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dear thetravelgirl,While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result.Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. Unfortunately there are no pictures. If a patient has good quality tummy skin, then they should not have much of a problem with rippling of their tummy after a bbl and their belly button should look normal. (Please see the bbl video on our page) if one has loose tummy skin, liposuction may result in wrinkling of the tummy. If the laxity of the skin is minimal one may consider tightening the skin utilizing a radio frequency device like Renuvion J plasma. To avoid rippling and  strange belly button, or bad outcome from a Liposculpture + BBL, the first thing is to confirm during the evaluation that  there is no separation of the abdominal rectus muscles and excessive fat and skin in the abdomen, because this can only be corrected or improve by adding a Tummy Tuck to the BBL.
Those complications you are refering are  bad results from performing  lipo in the abdomen and BBL when a Tummy Tuck + Liposculpture + BBL is the right procedure to be  performed. Pictures must be provided to verify your condition.

The answer to your question is very straightforward and easy one. Go to talented providers who know what they're doing and they will not leave you with disfiguring outcomes anywhere 
 Talented providers can anticipate the types of results you can obtain depending on what type of candidate you are for each procedure.

 When reviewing plastic surgeons if you see disfigurements on there after pictures then avoid those providers. 

 My practice is devoted exclusively to liposuction and fat transfer procedures. 
 Earlier in my career and there were a challenging areas to get consistent perfect results on. These included arms, the belly button area and inner thighs. A BBL should not cause disortio of your belly button. I do remove via liposuction, fat from the abdomen and all areas to get enough to put into the buttock after it is purified but it is unusual that liposuction would cause rippples, irregularities. I do revise a small amount of my patients but only at least one year after their surgery.
