Dear Stacy46557,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
It’s best to wait 24 hours after injections to work out. Be sure to follow the instructions of your injector. Best of luck to you!
You can work out directly after your Kybella treatment, if you wish. The deoxycholic acid injections are limited to your submental area. You can’t alter or ruin your results by exercising. However, you may feel a little bruised or swollen after your treatment, so you might modify your routine slightly. It’s really up to you! If you feel ready to exercise, go for it. You will probably need at least three to four treatments of Kybella over time. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will help you get the most out of this very effective double-chin treatment.
I allow my Kybella patients to exercise the following day if they feel up to exercising. Depending on the number of vials used, there can be significant swelling and fullness for 5 days which may prevent you from working out at 100%. Discuss the protocol recommended with your injector.
There is no down-time with Kybella. Kybella take 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks. Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days. The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. However, some patients need more than one treatment to get desired results. Both Kybella or neck liposuction are good options and will improve the double chin. It depends on your lifestyle and personality which would be better for you. Kybella is best for patients that:1) Do not want surgery 2) Are not surgical candidates 3) Not willing to wear a compression dressing around the face for 1 week 4) Patient- The results of Kybella will take months. Neck Liposuction is best for patients that:1) Want a single treatment 2) One recovery time- Downtime for neck liposuction require wearing a wrap around face for 1 week. 3) Less painful 4) Quicker results 5) Cost is a concernNeck liposuction is a quick surgical procedure that can be complete while the patient is awake. It cost around the same price a Kybella and can be less in patients with heavier necks. The single recovery of neck liposuction may be a better option for some patients.I hope this helps.
There can be swelling, redness and inflammation for several days after a Kybella treatment. There is no real down-time with Kybella, but I recommend following your Doctor's protocol regarding exercise after your treatment. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Great question! It is best to wait for up to 24 hours after your procedure. It is best to ice the area to reduce the swelling. Kybella is an excellent, noninvasive procedure that permanently destroys submental fat cells. The active ingredient, synthetic deoxycholic acids, is a naturally occurring molecule that is found in our body, which helps our body break down fat. Thank you for your question, best of luck to you!
I advise patients that they can begin exercising 24 hours after treatment if they feel up to it. There is local swelling and soreness, so if this doesn't hinder your activities after 24 hours there isn't a problem.
The great news is there is no true "physical" down time after Kybella! You will likely want to ice and take it easy the same day, but can return to exercise the following day. The product does cause moderate local swelling ("social" downtime), but will not hinder your ability to return to your normal daily activities.
Thank you for your question. Following Kybella, we typically instruct patients to refrain from strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours. Returning to exercise after that is typically safe but may exacerbate swelling, so if you experience significant swelling following your treatment you may want to avoid exercise for 48-72 hours. Best of luck with your treatment!
This needs an in-person evaluation. Most people need more than one vial and a series of treatments with Kybella. Both Kybella or neck liposuction are good options and will improve the double chin. It depends on your lifestyle and personality which would be better for you. Kybella is best for...
Both Kybella and laser hair removal are safe treatments that can be completed around thesame time. Neither treatment should harmfully impact the other. Kybella does have some sideeffects that can make the neck and under-chin area temporarily sensitive, so you may wish tohave your laser hair...
Swelling from Kybella can be pretty significant, and I tell patients to plan on 1-2 weeks of swelling. To be swollen 5 days out is not at all unusual. However, always confirm with your healthcare provider to ensure they are in agreement. We do find swelling is typically less...
