Question

I had liposuction performed on my neck 10 years ago, but I still have a double chin although I have gained no weight. Would a treatment like Kybella help me? Or is this more an issue of saggy skin than fat? Would it be dangerous to try the Kybella treatment given that I already had lipo?

There’s no reason not to have Kybella injections after liposuction — particularly if it’s been 10 years, since not 100 percent of all fat cells are removed with liposuction. However, it looks like you have a lot of looseness. I’d suggest ThermiTight, which removes fat and tightens skin more than Kybella does. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will ensure you get the right treatment for your issues.

Yes, you can have Kybella after liposuction. Kybella takes 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks.  Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days.  The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. However, some patients need more than one treatment to get desired results.

It’s hard to tell from the photo if your issue is fat versus sagging skin. If fat is the issue, Kybella can be done although after liposuction sub cutaneous tissue gets very fibrotic and I am not sure Kybella is the best choice.

Thanks for your question. As best I can tell from your picture, it does appear that you have loose skin there. An exam would be needed to determine how much was skin laxity versus residual fat pad. When skin laxity is the primary issue, we often reach for Profound RF or TruSculpt 3D.
