Can I achieve natural looking lips with 1ml? (Photo)

Question

Hello, I booked lips fillers for the first time next week. I am still really afraid that the result wouldn’t look natural at all and will be a too big difference with my actual lips. I booked for 1ml but I would like to know if you think it will be better to go with 0.5ml to have a natural look? I would like to have more plump and definition on my upper lip. My doctor is using micro doplets of hyaluronic acid. And use products like Juverderm, Volbella, Volift and Voluma. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your question. It all depends on what your expectations are, but I do believe it can be done.  I think 1ml is a good starting point to determine whether or not you want more or a little less product for future treatments.

Thank you for your question. Yes, you can achieve natural results with hyaluronic acid fillers for lip augmentation. One syringe of filler split between your upper and lower lips should give you a subtle natural look that typically lasts 3-6 months. Please note that it is common to have some swelling and bruising after treatment which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. I recommend discussing your concerns with your injector. Best of Luck!

Hello and thank you for your question. 1 ml Juvederm Ultra XC is what I prefer for lips. I find that anything less than 1 ml is inefficient in making the appropriate subtle change.  Prior to your appointment I recommend you stop taking medications that can alter clotting. **Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, Vit E and flaxseed Oil. Avoid these for at least 5 days pre-procedure an you will have a much better result. Best of luck to  you.

One of the best things about fillers is that you can go slowly to achieve the look you want.  The amount you are beginning with is a typical starting point.  Speak with your injector about your surgical goals to help choose the volume that is right for you.  Please note that bruising and swelling are common after lip injections and it can take up to two weeks for it to completely resolve.  Using ice intermittently after the treatment may help with swelling.

You could start with .6ml of volbella for a very natural look. If you want more, it is easy to ad a second vial.  Juvederm Ultra will give you more fullness. Most doctors are willing to use half a vial and save it for a second session. Patients with very full lips usually have more than 1ml of product.

You have a very good and healthy approach to the fillers, particularly in the lips. Your concerns are very justified. After all,  we still see many with overfilled and distorted features with natural  proportions lost with each syringe. However, they are not at fault. Yes, one syringe will be more than enough. Keep in mind that some injectors manage to "create" unnatural look even with less than that. It all depends on the injector's ability not only to look but also to see and understand.  The best way to find one is through the "word of mouth". Ask around for recommendation and look at their work. Only the results correlate perfectly well with the injector's abilities; nothing else matters. If more than one syringe is suggested for your first lip injection - run. You want someone who makes your well being and appearance a priority. Good luck!

You can achieve excellent results with minimal filler. I will typically inject .1 to .2 ml to the upper border of the upper lip on each side enhancing Cupid's bow.

Hi There!
1ml shared between your upper and lower lips will likely give you the exact look you’re after.
The type of filler will dictate how firm and “pouty” it will look - for example volbella is very soft and looks very natural. 
The most important thing, if your wish is to keep your lips looking natural, is to find an experienced injector who will know how much to inject and who will keep the ratio between upper and lower lip sizes correct. The upper lip should always be smaller than the lower. If the upper lip is overfilled the look is unnatural. If the lips are filled too laterally, the look is again, unnatural. 
Finally, don’t panic if the next day your lips look too big - there is usually some swelling with lips. Wait 3-4 days and I’m sure you will be happy.
