Would I be a good candidate for a lip lift?

Question

I'm thinking about getting a lip lift but am wondering about the pros and cons. If I get one now at 41 will I realistically need another in the future. What happens to the scar tissue as the lip drops again? Does it stretch. Once you've had one lip lift are there added complications for a second? Can I get the same outcome from fillers? I'd like to know about non silicone fillers that last more than a few months.

Hello splodgeThis procedure may benefit younger and older patients alike. In younger patients, the procedure is typically used to avoid obtaining a plastic appearance with fillers. It is important to understand that not all lips will benefit from fillers. The lift gives the upper lip a lighter and more defined appearance with greater volume and tooth show. As you age, the upper lip loses volume and increases in length. When performed in older patients, the lift helps restore a more youthful facial balance and sensuality around the mouth. It also works wonders for improving lost lip volume as well as lipstick bleed lines and wrinkles.

For better assessment as to whether you are a good candidate for the procedure, a side view photo will also be necesssary, however, in general, if lip lift is performed properly, the chance of the scar widening should be very low. The incidence of revision following upper lip lift is also quite low. In case of revision, it doesn't neccessarily make the surgerymore complicated since it is still pretty straight forward. Future dropping of the lip rarely affects the scar ( and it will have very little to do with stretching of the scar).
As for fillers, it will make the lip fuller, but it will not lift the Vermillion Border. Also, most fillers available in the market right now typically last 6-12 months, but some may last longer.
