Fever and headaches after tummy tuck. Any suggestions?

I'm 15 days po op tummy tuck, last three days I got fever, temperature and headache only in evenings plus I still cant stand still and only short walk get me really tired that I have to sit down. ( can fever be connected with tummy tuck?) or i got only flu and it has nothing to do with it? I dont want to miss anything so trying to be carefull. Thank You

Thanks for yuor inquiry, please call your surgeon ASAP to discuss and best to be examined.  Fever can be a sign of lots or bad things or nothing at all, but adress it now.  Good Luck

Dear fruukitty,An abdominoplasty is a big surgery, and symptoms like fever and headaches should be taken seriously. I live at high altitude and have found that headaches can be related to hypoxia or lower levels of oxygen. Fevers can be signs of infection related to surgery, pulmonary status (atalectasis or pneumonia), side effects of medication, and yes maybe even the flu. From what you have told us here it sounds like you are very deserving of a full examination which should also include a pulse ox, and maybe even chest x-ray or chest CT if indicated. Please call your surgeon and get checked ASAP.

Thank you for the question. While it is possible that you have a flu or other issues unrelated to your surgery, it is important to make sure that it is indeed the case. In the past, I have seen complications related to tummy tuck, including cellulitis from the drain sites, infected seroma, colitis from antibiotic use. Rather than speculating, I urge to see your surgeon for evaluation. Good luck.
