Hi doctors, it has been just over 2 months since my hair transplant, I bumped my head on the edge of a table while bending down to pick something up, I've noticed a very small cut on my scalp on the area that I bumped (see attached image). There's not much bleeding (if any). Can you please tell me if something like this would affect future hair growth/kill grafts? - note: if you can't see the image, the cut is about 1mm to 2mm in size and about 0.2mm deep...

Answer: Head Trauma after a hair transplant, will my grafts be affected? Hello, Dr. George Abrahamian here from LA FUE Hair Clinic in Pasadena, CA. Trauma to the head at any point after a hair transplant isn't great, but the closer you are to your transplant day, the higher the likelihood of long term issues with the grafted hair. Typically, trauma within 10 days after hair restoration may lead to long term loss of the grafted hair, but not always. Trauma two months after restoration more than likely will not cause any issues to the either the natural hair, or the transplanted hair, and if it does, its likely to be transient, and not a long term issue, based on the photo you have shared. However, if the trauma is so severe that it tears through multiple layers of skin, and requires stitching, those hair follicles (transplanted and non transplanted) may not recover if there is dense scar tissue formation. If it was a slight bump that maybe bled a little bit due to superficial skin trauma, and did not require stitching, you should be fine! I hope this helps.

Answer: It doesn’t take as long as 2 months It doesn’t take as long as 2 months to heal the FUE so that means that it doesn’t damage the surgery if it happened after 2 months and getting in touch with the surgeon if you experience any pain is a good idea.

Answer: Bumped head two months after hair transplant surgery By two months, the grafts have healed in and should be as durable as native hair follicles. A bump should not cause any problems unless it was sever enough to damage your native follicles- from your description and the photos this is not likely.
