Thank you for your question.  As with any surgery, there are risks associated with undergoing a mommy makeover.  However, to minimize the risk, please be sure that you do your part in preparing for surgery.  Make sure that the surgeon you have chosen is board certified in plastic surgery and is an expert in each of the procedures that you are having done.  You should also be given the chance to speak with the anesthesia provider for your surgery who will be able to answer any and all questions you may have regarding what will be done.All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Thank you for your question. I think you have a reasonable level of pre-operative anxiety. While there are risks with any surgical procedure, they are extremely low when performed in an accredited operating room by a board certified plastic surgeon. You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon for further reassurance. 

It isn't unusual to experience some pre-op anxiety. My best advice would be to call your surgeon to discuss your fears. Maybe even speak with the anesthesiologist. Complications from surgery are rare. Especially when you see a board certified plastic surgeon. My best,

During this important meeting you will discuss your concerns, review your medical history, and learn more about the procedure. Your surgeon will advise if you are a good candidate for the procedures. It is impossible to eliminate all risk from surgery, but with careful screening and preparation the risks can be kept to a minimum.

The truth is that ANY operation comes with risks. It is the job of the surgeon to realistically assess you and recommend operations that are safe and give you a low chance of increased risk. Being evaluated and educated by a reputable, board certified plastic surgeon who operates out of a hospital or accredited surgery center is important. It is the job of the surgeon to lay out the risks and benefits for you and explain the things that increase risks for their patients and recommend safe and reasonable operations that are likely to give a great result. If you are otherwise healthy and feel comfortable with the surgeon's ability to discuss the above with you then you are likely a great candidate for the operations that are recommended for you. Hi JG1988You are having a common reaction to a very big combination of operations.  You raise reasonable considerations for  elective operations that aren't essential for life versus your desire to be happy.  It is best to discuss your personal risk factors with your doctor and your anesthesia providers so that they can best put those risks in perspective for you, and you can judge for yourself.Another option would be to consider staging the procedures.  Have one of the procedures (the area that bothers you the most), followed by the other after you are healed and your schedule permits.Don't feel forced into doing something you are not comfortable with.All the best.Se

It's perfectly normal to feel nervous and anxious prior to surgery. Most doctors routinely review the risks and possible complicates prior to surgery with their patients. Perhaps it would help for you to have another consultation with your plastic surgeon and review your concerns.Good luck!
