9 days post op Revision Rhinoplasty, I have scabs in my nose. Any suggestions?

I had a revision rhinoplasty 9 days ago and my nose is full of very hard to the point of hurting scabs.. How do I soften them so that they will come out faster? I look great otherwise and want to get back to life but I can't go out with a bunch of visible black blood clot/scabs filling my nose. Please help me!

You should ask your surgeon about how to remove these scabs. Don't pick them in the meantime. An ointment may be applied or they can be gently removed with a rinse.

Always speak with your plastic surgeon after cosmetic surgery. Many plastic surgeons will suggest saline rinse and/or ointment inside the nostrils to keep area clean and moist as part of post-surgery care instructions. "Scabs" may actually be stitches, so don't peel or pull them out. If you haven't already, then speak with your rhinoplasty surgeon.Best,Dr. Chaboki

It would be best to check with your PS regarding postop care but for my patients I tell them to use a saline spray to help soften the old blood.  At postop visits, I also clean the nose carefully for them.
