10 days post if my surgery. I am 34 years old. I had fat transfer under my eyes 3cc left eye and 2cc right eye. Unfornutely I had my surgery through that one doctor only had 2 experience of fat grafting. I believe That an excessive amount of fat was placed. I have also lumps and it feels pretty hard over all. some doctors told me to massage it, some doctors suggested Not to massage it. I am so confused. Should I massage it or Not? Also should I put ice on it? Please help.
Answer: Fat Transfer Results, Are They Permanent? Under The Eyes I suggest waiting 6-12 weeks and if not happy after injections consider 5FU/steroid treatment. Please consult with an experienced dermatologist for optimal results. Immediate treatment with venus legacy may help decrease swelling. Speak to your physician or a fat grafting expert immediately. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Should I massage lower lids? Dear nuraysahin,Swelling under the eyes can be extreme and I would assume all that you are seeing in this photo is not fat. While your best bet is to follow what your surgeon recommended, I do think that you should gently massage to help push out the swelling and break up the fat if you are feeling lumps. Cold compresses and elevation may also still help with some swelling. It can take several months for the fat to go down so you will not appreciate the final result for some time. If there ends up being too much fat and some needs to removed it can be tricky. There is a possibility that injections may help to dissolve some of the fat, or it might require surgery. I have not had to remove excess fat in the face before, and the thought of it does make me very nervous around the eyes because of the thinness of the skin. If you think you are going to need some type of revision I would seek out an Occuloplasty surgeon with the best reputation in your area. It might be wise to establish a relationship earlier rather than later. If your surgeon has only done two (there was a point where every one of us with experience had only done two) she might appreciate the assistance of some one who has perhaps treated other patients in the same situation.Best of luck to you,

Answer: Postoperative management It's not appropriate for anyone of us to give you recommendations on postoperative management without knowing your full medical background, have examined you or know how your treatment was done.Your treating surgeon should be managing you exclusively at this point.it would be inappropriate for anyone of us to tell you to massage or not massage the area.I realize you're looking for help but you should seek in person second opinions if you do not have faith in your current practitioner.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
