How much of this is swelling? So I got a vial of jevederm injected into my lips yesterday! I have been very apprehensive to do this as I have heard horror stories. The Dr. only put about .2 ml into my bottom lip and it seems to be fine. The rest was used in my top lip and she made about 5 injections on the top lip. I have 2 firm and pretty large lumps on the top and some unevenness along with some pretty extreme bruising. These pics show progression between yesterday and this morning.

Answer: Swelling and bruising after Juvederm Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos. The lips are a particularly sensitive area, and are prone to swelling and bruising that can last up to 2 weeks after filler injections. Moreover, the Juvederm itself can feel hard or lumpy immediately after injection - typically, as the Juvederm absorbs water, it softens and blends into the skin. That said, you do appear to have a little more bruising than I typically anticipate with lip filler injections. Gently applying ice or cool compresses to your lips may help the swelling resolve sooner. It may be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns, as certain lasers can help bruising fade faster. If in two weeks you are still noticing swelling or lumpiness, your injector may be able to gently massage out any remaining lumps, or dissolve them with hyaluronidase. Best of luck!
