A blood pressure of 124/89 is not that high... This can be caused by anxiety when taking the blood pressure in the office, something ingested that can transiently increase your blood pressure, hypertension, or a number of other factors. It's not just blood pressure, but a variety of measures that are evaluated to determine patient safety, including age, weight, other medical problems, etc... A medical clearance with a primary care provider would ensure that you are safe and optimized before any procedure.
Plastic surgery, while offering remarkable transformations, carries inherent potential risks that must not be underestimated. A comprehensive preoperative workup is of utmost importance. By conducting a proper preoperative assessment, the surgeon can identify potential risk factors and take necessary precautions to minimize complications, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and achieving the best possible results. In my practice, all my patients get: - Full set of labs including tox screen. - Chest x-ray- EKG- Medical clearance. - Specialist clearance (if they are being treated for a chronic condition). - Nicotine and drug test.
Dear Pana1989, Thanks for sharing your concern, as any surgery you should have a previous authorization from the anesthesia team and of course a cardiologist, with that boold pressure I do not see any problem to go on with your procedure. Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks. Dr. Luis Mejia.
Thank you for your question. To be a good candidate for the procedures you want, your labs and cardiovascular preoperative evaluation must be optimal.Kind Regards,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Hello @pana1989, thank you for your question. Blood pressure is an important factor in determining the safety and success of any aesthetic procedure. Your blood pressure is within normal limits. However, I recommend consulting closely with your specialist and following his or her recommendations regarding presurgical tests. Your specialist will be able to provide advice tailored specifically for you based on different factors such as age, general health condition, and the extent of surgery. Best wishes!
