I got Volbella under eye injections 5 days ago and I think they’re overfilled (Photo)

Question

They are very puffy and make me look worse than I did before. I’m just wondering if they’re overfilled and need to be dissolved? Or will they go down soon?

Injecting the skin under the eyes when filling the tear troughs creates slight swelling that dissipates over a week or two. It’s too soon to judge your results. You don’t look particularly overfilled to me, but if you’re not happy, then yes, you can have your dermatologist dissolve the Volbella with hyaluronidase. You don’t have to dissolve it all. This should be done at no charge, if you did receive too much Volbella. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist will always get you the best results.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Because the tissues of the undereyes are so thin, they are prone to swelling after treatment. Based on your pictures I would allow for a bit more time to pass to allow the filler to soften and incorporate into your tissues.  After 2-3 weeks you should see your long-term results.  Hope this helps.

It can take up to 2 weeks for the swelling under the eyes to resolve and the filler to settle in. If after 2 weeks you are still unhappy then you can have the Volbella dissolved with Hyaluronidase. Under eye injections require advanced technique and choice of appropriate filler to limit complications. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician injector. Best wishes.

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. It can take 1-2 weeks for swelling to resolve after tear trough injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
