Can I get Juvederm if I have Sleroderma?

Having Sclerodema is not a contraindication for getting hyaluronic acid fillers and as a matter of fact, there are a number of reports of successful use of these fillers in correction of facial defects caused by Scleroderma. Please make sure to let your physician know about the preexisting condition and also, discuss your plans to undergo filler treatment with your Scleroderma doctor to make sure no additional precaution is warranted. Scleroderma and other autoimmune diseases do put you at risk of forming granulomas from certain fillers, such as those made with the Vycross technology (ie Voluma, Volbella, Vollure). You may be completely fine, though any type of autoimmune disease can put you at an increased risk. I would recommend input from your monitoring provider as well, prior to any type of filler injections! 

Thank you for your question.  I have had patients with Scleroderma who do well with aesthetic treatments. There is no contraindication to having a hyaluronic acid filler like any from the Juvederm family of fillers if you have Scleroderma. Make sure to discuss your condition with your provider beforehand. Also make sure that every measure is taken to prevent an infection with your treatment. I am very hypervigilant about avoiding infections especially with someone who already has a chronic disorder. My protocol includes for you to wash your face at the office before I start, then I clean with alcohol and again with Hypochloris Acid before each injection. In other words choose your provider based on competency and results and not just on price to set yourself up for the best possible outcome

Thank you for your question! For the majority of patients scleroderma is not a contraindication to receiving fillers. I suggest meeting with an experienced injector who will go through full medical history to make sure that you are a good candidate for fillers. 

I have several patients with scleroderma who get fillers regularly. Several actually have severe tightening around the mouth and the addition of the hyaluronic acid fillers actually seems to help loosen the tightness a bit, they claim. I have not had any issues injecting scleroderma patients, but like I would tell anyone, make sure you are seeing an expert. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and

I have done Ha fillers n several pts with scleroderma and have not seen issues. It seems to work just like in everyone else
