My lip Volbella injection disappeared in a week- nothing like first time. Is it from hitting blood vessel? (photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I am sorry to hear of your bruising and unexpected results.  Without knowing how much filler was placed in each of your two separate sessions it is difficult to offer the best advice on the duration of treatment.  For many patients the swelling that accompanies the treatment makes the lips larger than what their long-term outcome will be, so it may be a situation that your injector did not place as much filler into your lip this time.  I would have a discussion with them to know how your results can be improved upon

Thanks for your question. Initially, for about a week, we usually experience some swelling after filler. Compound this with a bruise and your swelling will be more significant. It is difficult to comment on whether your lips are back to their original size without seeing a clinically taken before picture to compare. Sometimes, it might appear as though the filler has dissipated until you verify with a picture. Also, my preference is to use a filler that that has a little more substance specifically for the lips.

Thank you for your message! With any type of injection there is always a risk of bruising and swelling. Our office usually uses Vollure or Juvederm Ultra into the lips as it provides a bit more volume than Volbella. We will use Volbella to help create lip definition by injecting into the border of the lip. You can follow up with your injector to ensure the same product was used as before. People metabolize filler differently each time it is injected though!
