I'm now 3 months post op and still have pins & needles sensations on my left breast, below the nipple so mainly around the incision line. I had 335cc HP, rounds and they were placed under the muscle. Could this be the nerves re generating? I would have thought it would have passed by now however I am no professional! It doesn't bother me too much but sometimes it feels numb & tingles when I touch, just as pins & needles would. Opinions appreciated :-)

Answer: Like hitting your funny bone This type of numbness and tingling can happen after a breast augmentation. Usually it is caused by a nerve getting stretched by the implants, the procedure, or the swelling. In most cases it seems to go away by around 6 months. Often, there area where you have this funny feeling is pretty large (sometimes the whole breast) and the area gets smaller over time to say, just the side of the breast, and eventually it can disappear entirely. As always talk to your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon if you have issues or concerns. I hope this helps!

Answer: Pins and needles Thanks for your question. It is not uncommon for patients to have the symptoms that you are describing after a breast augmentation. The feelings of pins and needles should subside in time, although this may take several months to happen. If these sensations do not improve, or you have any further concerns, I suggest you follow-up with your operating plastic surgeon. All the best.
