Cheek implants for flat midface? (Photo)

Question

I'm currently in the process of planning orthognathic surgery (lefort 1 and trying to rotate mandible to a more horizontal plan, getting rid of my chin implant, and having genioplasty done). However my midface is quite long abd also very very flat. I think I would benefit from lefort 3 but since it's too risky and not really done, will cheek implants suffice? I hate how flat I am!

Thanks for the question, you may also want to consider simple facial fat grafting which an be done awake and on an outpatient basis

Although implant surgery is the obvious focus of this question, I just wish to suggest that the nonsurgical use of volumizing fillers is a quick and easy approach to contouring and adding projection to a flat face and for augmenting a chin to reestablish more proper facial proportions. Deep support volumetry of this kind typically yields immediate results and engenders little to no downtime. In my Upper East Side Manhattan office I would opt for a combination of Radiesse and Voluma XC for the cheeks and Perlane L and Voluma XC for the chin. In my Israel satellite facility where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved fillers and volumizers are available, I would choose Stylage XXL and Teosyal Ultra Deep for the cheeks and Hyaluronica 3 and Restylane SQ for the chin).

Generally speaking,
the most common reason patients opt in for cheek implants is to add projection
to an otherwise “flat” face. Lifting the cheeks will give your face more
definition and balance, and can highlight other features such as the eyes and
smile. From the photos you have provided, it does seem as if you may benefit
from the procedure. Still, for a more personalized evaluation and to further
discuss the possibilities afforded by a cheek implant surgery, consult with more
than one surgeon .

Cheek implants are usually placed for patients who  have a flat maxilla, and desiring mid face augmentation. Cheek implants are inserted through an intra-oral approach under a brief general anesthetic.  Cheek implants are composed of Silastic, and are manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes which determined at the time of consultation and examination.

You do not want nor are you a candidate for a LeFort III advancement. Having cheek implants placed at the time of the LeFort 1 procedure (or after) would be the more appropriate approach to addressing your flat cheek concerns.

Hi, from the attached photos, the cheeks are quite flat and the chin is very weak.  These cause the face to appear rectangular shaped and elongated.  Cheek Augmentation with Cheek Implants along with Chin Augmentation using a Chin Implant would provide a softer, more feminine and naturally attractive heart-shape to your face.
