Is it possible to keep your natural belly button when undergoing a Brazilian butt lift?

I have researched and it keeps coming up that in order to get a bbl you have to get a fake belly button. Is there a way to keep your real belly button?

Hello @Tasteful233742, thank you for your question. This depends on the surgical technique of your chosen surgeon.  BBL procedure involves liposuction from areas of the body where there is excess fat, typically the abdomen, hips, or thighs, and then transferring this fat into the buttocks to improve their shape and size. Generally speaking, a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) requires minimal incisions in the lower abdomen to allow access and does not include repositioning or reshaping of the belly button. It's also important that you follow all post surgical recommendation to maintain the shape of the navel. Remember that fat has been removed from the area, and a compression garment is necessary to ensure a successful outcome. The procedure involves making small incisions in the donor areas for liposuction and in the buttocks for the fat transfer. Therefore, your natural belly button (umbilicus) is not typically affected during a BBL.

A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) involves liposuction to harvest fat from various parts of the body, typically the abdomen, flanks, and thighs, and then transferring that fat to the buttocks to enhance its shape and size. The procedure does not inherently involve altering the belly button.

Now, if someone is getting a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) in combination with a BBL, the position and appearance of the belly button might be adjusted as part of the tummy tuck. But a standalone BBL does not affect the belly button. However, it is not advisable to have those two procedures performed at the same time due to opposite recovery positioning on your belly after a BBL and on your backside after a tummy tuck.

Thanks for your question. With a BBL, 360 lipo is performed (lipo of the upper and lower abdomen, the upper and lower back and the flanks) and then transferred to the buttocks. The procedure does not require you to get a "fake" belly button. You may be thinking of a tummy tuck in which excess fat is removed from the abdomen and so the belly button needs to repositioned. in case of BBL surgery, your belly button won't be touched. Surgeon will take fat and transfer it to butt. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Doing a liposuction requires incisions done in order to introduce the cannulae for liposuctioning, this are well planned and easily hidden but still are leaving a scar. No modification to the belly button is done besides just doing an incision inside well hidden, not quite sure where you’re getting these info on having any fake or modified belly button. Thank you for your question. As previously noted, a bbl should not affect the belly button for an appropriately selected candidate for the surgery. A bbl is much more than over filling the butt with fat. It should be customized to the patient and their aesthetic sense. It is the combination of two surgeries; lipo sculpting of the waist and fat grafting to augment any deficiency of the butt and hips. For a more comprehensive result and much improved silhouette, the surgery often include the liposuction of the upper and lower abdomen. Liposuction is done with small access sites without big incisions and should not move the belly button unlike an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Keep in my if a patient is starting out with excess skin above the belly button before liposuction, the shape of the belly button might change due to loose skin that can be created following liposuction. An experienced plastic surgeon will be able to identify this issue prior to surgery and recommend a different surgery or additional procedure such as radio-frequency skin tightening to get you the result that you want.

A BBL, a.k.a. Brazilian butt lift consists of harvesting fat, using liposuction most commonly from the torso and grafting fat to the hips and buttocks. This does not have a significant impact on the umbilicus.
