The process of having a successful body transformation with Liposuction and fat transfer, is not so much about using the correct terminology, or defining the name of the procedure, as it is finding the right provider. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who truly mastered these procedures are in a small minority. To find the right provider patients need to recognize there is a significant difference in skillet experience among different providers and do a thorough job and properly vetting plastic surgeons, having a sufficient number of consultations to make a good decision about who you choose to be your provider. To do that I suggest patient start the process by having multiple in person, consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who seem to have a lot of experience doing the BBL procedure. During that consultation you can review before and after pictures and discuss what you’re trying to achieve. During each consultation, ask you to provide her to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patient with similar body characteristics to your own. When reviewing fat transfer results always confirm with an after pictures were taken at least 3 to 6 months from the date of the procedure. Early fat transfer results can look very impressive but do not in any way represent final results. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 15 previous patients. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider or how many of these procedures they’ve actually performed. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you have it the more likely you are to find the best provider. Considering how much variation there is in skills with these procedures, I suggest patients consider having at least five in person consultations considering scheduling a permanent your reversible body contouring procedure. Poorly done Liposuction can leave people disfigured, and once the procedure is performed. It’s very difficult to create some improvement if it wasn’t done correctly the first time. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. Continue having consultations until you feel you found the right provider for your needs. When it Dowd slow down and schedule more consultations. The biggest mistake patients make in my opinion is assuming people have talent when they in fact, don’t, not being thorough when it comes to vetting providers, and having far too few consultations before choosing a surgeon. These procedures have more variation and outcomes, depending on who does the operation then any other plastic surgery operation I’ve seen. Being board-certified and plastic surgery with years of experience in an overall good reputation does not mean somebody has mastered any one single procedure, or is good at liposuction and fat transfer. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
