Can I have rhinoplasty with Hashimoto's and possible dermatomyositis?

The bottom line is that if your thyroid and skin disease is relatively well controlled, then there should be no additional risk with correcting your nasal fracture. That being said, if it is not controlled you might have to have the procedure under local anesthesia or light sedation. I would recommend consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area.

Generally speaking, patients with Medical conditions must be evaluated and cleared by the treating Physicians. This is in order to minimize complications.

Hi and thanks for your question. Hashimoto disease doesn’t affect your surgery but the important part of this disease is your thyroid hormone levels. If your thyroid hormone levels are normal , hashimoto doesn’t cause problem. But you have two autoimmune disease , and treatment of these disease can change from patient to patient. So give the correct decision, I should know your medicine and your thyroid hormone levels.

  It is best to get medical clearance by  a dermatologist and an endocrinologist before  undergoing elective cosmetic surgery on the nose.

Often, some of the medications taken for autoimmune or endocrine diseases can affect healing after surgery. I would make sure your surgeon is familiar with your medication list and any possible side effects or complications with them.

With your history of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, it must be controlled and stable before proceeding with any surgical procedure. The diagnosis of dermatomyositis must be confirmed as well.
