My husband and I had sex last night on my 17th post-op day after breast augmentation. Do you think everything is okay?

Based on what you are describing it doesn’t sound like any harm done. If you did something that’s going to cause a problem you’d have more significant pain and it’s not likely that it would be in both breasts. If you are really concerned I’d suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined. Based on what you have described, no harm should have been done.  Of course your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource, but a little soreness after activity is very normal to experience.

Having sex so soon after a surgery it does not represent a problem , if you don't get rough with the new breast implants , so just be gentle with it , until your 3 months healing process , everything must be ok good luck . 

Thank you for your question! Based on what you have described, I do not believe that any harm was done to your implants. You will notice that as you go back to your normal daily activities you will be a little sore. I usually recommend that my patients wait two weeks before being sexually active. With that being said, each doctor has different post-operative protocols so if you have any further questions I recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon or scheduling a follow-up to make sure everything is okay. I have my patient's refrain from any vigorous activity including sex until their 6 week post op mark. First of all thank you for the question.  Based on your description, it does not sound like anything is abnormal.  You will notice that you will have more soreness after you start increasing your regular activities.  As always, I would suggest following up with your surgeon and follow his or her advice.  Best of Luck. 

Hi there! Thank you for your question. Based on what you described, I don't think any harm was done. However, every surgeon has her/his own postoperative protocol which she/he recommends to her patients  I tell my patients that if they do something and it hurts,  to stop. I also tell them not to lift more than 10 pounds for about 4 weeks.  However, please follow up with your surgeon. I believe that most doctors and patients are far more conservative in allowing normal activity after a BA. I had a patient years ago, who did pull-ups every day after her BA and did not have any problems (I did not know this until she told me when she came back for her one week check up). i allow my patients to have sex as soon as they want after their BA but tell them to use common sense with how wild they are. It is very uncommon, I believe, for post op activity to cause problems. i suspect most of the time, the implants were not properly placed and the post op activity was blamed for the incorrect position.david berman md
