Can I undergo this hyperbaric treatment with silicone implants?

Question

I have silicone breast implants and will be doing 30-40 hyperbaric treatments for soft tissue radio necrosis. Ok to treat? Can I be treated at 2ATA for 90 mins per day 5 days a week in a mono place O2 pressurized HBO2 chamber with silicone breast implants?

Dear Stutz6,hyperbaric treatment should have no effect on your implants. However, every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD

Stutz6. Sorry to hear that you need hyperbaric oxygen treatment for wound healing. This should have no deleterious effects on your silicone breast implants. Check in with your plastic surgeon as needed. Good luck.

Hyperbaric treatments should not affect your silicone implants.  Just make sure to notify both your implanting physician and the hyperbaric physician.   I hope the radionecrosis resolves. Dr T

Thanks for your question. There should be no risk to yourself or your implants, but you should check with your hyperbaric physician. 
During implant placement, air can get trapped in the pocket. While its not an issue during the initial part of the 'dive', when the pressure decreases in the chamber, there may be a concern. However, the air trapped around the implant will only last for a few weeks and should dissolve with no issues.
