Answer: Tummy tuck abdominoplasty flat abdomen rectus diastasis flat tummy pubic lift Hello Regan611477, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about constant pain, nausea, vomiting, and bloating two years after your tummy tuck, and for sharing your pictures. It's important that you undergo a comprehensive evaluation to determine the cause of your symptoms. I recommend the following steps: Abdominal CT Scan: This will help assess if there are any anatomical issues contributing to your discomfort. Blood Tests: These should focus on evaluating your liver, gallbladder, and pancreas functions. Consultation with a Gastroenterologist: They can conduct further examinations, such as an upper GI endoscopy and a colonoscopy, to explore gastrointestinal causes for your symptoms. Suppose these investigations do not yield a clear cause. In that case, it might be necessary to consider the possibility that the sutures used for rectus abdominis muscle plication during your tummy tuck could be contributing to your discomfort. In such a case, a discussion with your plastic surgeon about potentially releasing these sutures may be warranted. Regarding the numbness in your upper legs, this is not a typical postoperative symptom of a tummy tuck. I advise you to consult a neurologist to investigate this issue further. Your situation requires careful evaluation by specialists to determine the best course of action. Please ensure you follow up with your healthcare providers for the appropriate tests and consultations. I hope this guidance helps you in finding relief from your symptoms and resolving your health concerns. Wishing you a speedy resolution and recovery. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Constant pain I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. An evaluation is needed, and likely some testing in order to discover the underlying cause of your discomfort. Begin by visiting with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. She/He can advise other specialist consults if needed.

Answer: Pain Dear Generous611477, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Tummy tuck assessment To make an assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. The most common reason patients have a bulging abdomen after a tummy tuck is due to excess visceral fat. Excess visceral fat can often be assessed during consultations or be seen on preoperative pictures. Excess visceral fat will create abdominal tightness with sensation that it may be difficult to take a deep breath, or that your abdomen is difficult to push in. The condition is made worse by having muscle tightening with a tummy tuck unless patients lose weight. My best guess is that excess visceral fat is the primary underlying cause the tummy tuck increased your intra-abdominal pressure. Weight loss should improve your symptoms. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
