Thanks for the question. Boys or girls below the age of 18 should abstain from having plastic surgery. I wish you all the best.
Ideally, gynecomastia surgery is delayed until full development, around age 18 after adolescent hormonal influenced breast development ceases. Sometimes it will resolve to a degree afterwards. Also if your child is overweight, often the breasts will diminish with weight loss once in the normal range. However I have operated on several adolescent males to develop gynecomastia for those stigmatized and traumatized by the size of his breasts in severe cases with good results. Yes it is possible they will grow again and another procedure may be required for best results, Discuss the risk vs benefits with your board certified plastic surgeon that has experience in this age group.
Thank you for your question. You can certainly have the procedure at your age. We do usually wait till the skeletal growth is complete. In some situations Gynecomastia can be done even at an earlier age. Please make an appointment with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can evaluate you and suggest treatment options. All The Best !
HiGynaecomastia is the only surgical procedure that we offer for even minors at our clinic.the main and most important indication is the fact you are distressed about the shape of your chest.see the attached video
There is no recommended age for a gynecomastia surgery, so long as the patient has reached physical maturity. Though relatively older men tend to have more skin elasticity and more pronounced extraneous breast tissue, I have successfully treated a wide range of men through this life-changing procedure. At nearly 20 years of age, you may be a candidate for a gynecomastia procedure should your condition be worthy of the surgery. There are times when I operate on teenagers if their condition significantly impacts their social life and self confidence. Consult a few surgeons in your area for a more accurate assessment and discussion of your options.
we are not doing anything to skeletonwe are in fact above the muscle while treating so no age baryou can under go treatment
I perform quite a lot of gynecomastia surgery. My patients range in age from teens to senior citizens. In fact, it is the only procedure I will perform on a minor. For my patients, this surgery can truly be life changing. It is important to select and experienced plastic surgery with expertise in creating great looking results with limited scarring.
Hi King.King,Thanks for the post. There is no right age to have gynecomastia surgery. I recommend that you be evaluated by a plastic surgeon experienced in gynecomastia surgery. If there are no underlying medical causes that need to be addressed and the gynecomastia is affecting your quality of life, then your being 19 is not too young for surgery. The only time when age is a factor is in younger teens. Gynecomastia is not uncommon in this age group but in a vast majority it resolves after 2 to 3 years. Sincerely, Dr. Dadvand
There are different types of gynecomastia. There is the one that happens in adolescence and that is when it should be operated (after medical treatment failed.) There is the senile gynecomastia, that happens in old age and should be treated then. And there is pseudo-gynecomastia, where there is excess fat in the breasts due to weight gain. It can happen at different stages in life and surgery should be indicated according to each case.Dr. Luiz Toledo = Dubai
If the patient is mature, and it's not just someone who is chubby and will get better with some weight loss, later teen years can be appropriate. Make sure you are speaking to a board certified or eligible plastic surgeon and you two will figure it out. Good luck.
