Halo is part ablative so there are supposed to be tiny holes the first couple of days. When it heals, it will feel like fine sand paper. This is will flake off on its own. If you still have concerns about the treatment then follow up with your doctor.
I would assume that you are within the five-seven day healing period. It is normal to see what may appear to be holes beginning on the second day after treatment. These are known as "mends" -- microscopic epithelial necrotic debris. This is the damaged tissue being expelled from deep within your tissue. New collagen and elastin is being formed beneath the skin surface. The actual skin surface heals very quickly after treatment.
We have not seen what you're describing in any of the hundreds and hundreds of Halo laser treatments we have performed for the past two years. Tiny pinpoint marks are typical for the first week or so. But after that, the skin is typically smoother, more refreshed, and more evenly colored with less vascularity. We have not seen any indentions. If you have not done so yet ,I encourage you to see your provider. Some places only have a Halo laser and nothing else. If your provider has other types of lasers such as Sciton's MicroLaser peel and/ or some type of laser resurfacing, and other vascular lasers, your condition should be able to be resolved or greatly improved.
Thanks for the great question. There are holes which are visible immediately after treatment in most patients. These are the columns of dead skin which are working their way to the surface before falling off. The appearance of these holes is typically gone in 7 days after treatment. If you still have a lot of dark marks you may have developed post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) from the treatment. I would make an appointment to see your doctor as you might need to start a topical melanin suppressing medication such as hydroquinone and a topical Vit-A medication such as tretinoin or retinal. Best of luck!~Dr. Sieber
Like others have said, 95% of patients will have settled by now, the holes you see are secondary to the ERBIUM component of Halo, it should subside in the next 2-3 months, but I have seen prolonged grids or dots. Easy fix- use a Fraxel with small holes, high density in a 20 mj setting - depending on skin type. Take a photo and expect the dots to resolve as the weeks go by, if persistent at the 12 week mark, as your Specialist who performed Halo for a solution. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim. 100% not, the laser is very superficial. In fact Halo is one of the most superficial lasers even in the highest setting. You have to go down another .5 cm in most areas to even hit fat, the energy delivered will not cause fat loss. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
Thank you for the great question and I'm sorry you're having this issue. The good news is that this is only temporary! What happens in some patients is that the swelling from the laser treatment causes the pores to close up and acne to form. As the swelling goes down and the pores open up again...
It sure does look like the left side of your face has a different post reaction! Yes, it will heal. I know its only the left now, but redness usually means more collagen production. After heavy resurfacing lasers the redness can last upto 6 months - but usually fully resolves. For...
