How soon can I get my implants removed?

I’m about 6 days post op from my breast augmentation and I just don’t like having implants. The feeling of them on my chest (besides the normal tightness and pain) is very unpleasant for me. My surgeon did a great job so I don’t have any complaints there. I honestly just really don’t want them. Implants size :590cc hp Height: 5’4 Weight: 140lb I wanted implants for years so this feeling is surprising to me as well.

Hello @Optimistic888640, thank you for your question. Generally, an explant surgery can be done 12 months after the surgery has taken place. I always perform an immediate aesthetic reconstruction using the patient's own tissue using the BRALAN Technique (Breast Reconstruction Anatomical Lift Augmentation). Also, it is important to remove the capsule completely to prevent future inflammatory reactions. The scar depends on the specialist surgical technique I always perform this procedure with an L-shaped incision, which for me is the smallest and most discreet incision possible in a breast explant with breast reconstruction. If you are considering a breast explantation, consultation with a plastic surgeon who is experienced in this procedure is essential to ensure optimal results. I link a video to shed more light. it is probably better to try to wait until you are fully healed to see the final results. But you can get them out if you want. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

The sooner the better and within days if needed. The capsule that forms around the implant starts to form within weeks. The goal would be to get them out before the capsule forms.

Sometimes immediately after a breast augmentation it can take time to get used to the feeling of breast implants. I would recommend waiting at least 6 months to ensure that you do not like the feelings as most patients quickly get to used to them and love their results. This issue has to be discussed with your surgeon. We generally don't like to remove them for at least a month, but technically, they can be removed at any time. I would suggest you give yourself 1 month to heal before rushing back to surgery. The symptoms that you are experiencing should subside and you can make a more sound decision.

I recommend you not consider removal for a minimum of 3-6 months.  You are in the early stages of postop pain and the implants are higher than is desirable this early phase. Some patients that feel the way you do change their minds about removal.  Your Plastic Surgeon will advise you his preferred timing.

If you want your implants removed you can do so at any time.  However you may feel differently about your breast augmentation if you are willing to wait for further healing.  The tightness will settle, swelling will resolve, and the implants will fall into a more natural position.  I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns.

What you chose is too large for your frame and tissue. However, you do need time to heal from this surgery. Please discuss this with your surgeon. If at 6-8 weeks, you still feel the same way, then ask your surgeon when they can be removed. Please remember you were not happy with your size before surgery and will not be happy once removed. Consider going with something smaller, perhaps 350-400 cc's, that fits your frame and is not so large and heavy.
