Thank you for your question, and the photo. We typically do this procedure in our office under local anesthesia. We usually close the incision in layers to take the tension off of the incision. This usually leads to a nicer incision line. Please call the office for more details and the current costs. Costs will typically depend on the complexity, and how much time, the procedure will take. Costs will vary from city to city. We usually have our patients wait 3 months before re-piercing the earlobe, and 3 mm from the repair. Best to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Otolaryngologist (ENT). They will help you make a plan to achieve your goals.Jeffrey J. Hi, Thanks for your question. You will be needing an ear lobe repair. Expanded holes on the ear lobes can be repaired under local anaesthesia. Kindly meet a cosmetic surgeon for an in clinic consultation. Good luck.
I would suggest either non surgical repair or surgical repair to close the piercing hole. The size will determine the type of repair. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
Dear 240612gouri~Stretched ear piercing holes can be repaired in the office under local anesthesia. The stretched piercing site is removed, and the earlobe is repaired with sutures. The ear can then be pierced again at a later date after it has healed. Ear lobe repair is a very common and straightforward procedure that is performed by most plastic surgeons.Best,Amy Hsu
Earlobe repair is a very common procedure. Frequently, we have patients who will have the procedure done the same day as the consultation. Typically, the cost is between $450-850 per earlobe, depending on the severity and the length of the procedure. You may be able to find a doctor who will do this under insurance but i am not aware of any.The length of time the ears have been gauged should have no effect on the procedure. As long as the tissue is no longer irritated or inflamed, there is no reason not to give it a try. Gauged ears are sometimes more difficult than some other earlobe repairs since the tissue is so over stretched, but we are still able to create a natural looking earlobe. You can get your ear re pierced about 6 weeks after and should be included in the pricing. Shop around in your area and see if you can find a plastic surgeon in your budget. Insurance typically wont cover this.
A stretched or expanded earlobe piercing can easily be repaired in a surgeon's office with just local anesthesia. This is a very common procedure for most facial plastic surgeons or plastic surgeons. Once the repaired earlobe has healed, it can be re-pierced later. I usually recommend waiting about two months after the repair before re-piercing.
Years of wearing heavy earrings can weaken the tissue in your ears expanding the pierced hole. This can be repaired with very little downtime for you, but it is important you consult with an experienced plastic surgeon for your procedure.
