Does Juvéderm XC take time to show results?

Question

I just got Juvéderm xc injections to my lips and corner of mouth where my lips appeared somewhat down turned. When the Dr showed me immediately after I liked. But,it’s only been 2 hours Im worried that the little improvement I see will be gone when swelling subsides. Is this normal? Basically, what I am is asking is there a waiting period for final results like with Botox or did I not get enough? If I need more when should I go back? Thank you.

I think the simple answer to your question is that the results are fairly immediate, unlike Botox, which can several days before the desired effect is seen at all.  If you already feeling like your lips are not full enough, chances are you will be more satisfied with additional filler. The reason you should wait two weeks is that it takes time for your lips to reach "equilibrium"; swelling from the injection will gradually subside while the Juvederm in your lips is taking on water. You should let this process reach its final conclusion before deciding whether to proceed. Additionally, if you do elect to have more filler, your provider will be able to assess your needs more accurately.

It can take up to 2 weeks after Juvederm Lip Injections to see your final result.  This allows for any swelling or bruising to subside.  At 2 hours after lip injections, swelling may obscure those results.  Be patient!  At 2 weeks, follow up with your injector to evaluate your results and to determine if additional filler is needed for your desired look.  Best Wishes,

Thank you for your question. It is too soon at 2 hours post op to determine what your final results will be. This is because it can take up to 2 weeks after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers for all bruising and swelling to resolve and see your final results. I recommend having a follow up with your injector after 2 weeks for evaluation and to determine if additional filler is needed. Best of Luck!

With hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm you will see immediate results, you will get swelling (especially when the lips are involved), and then you will get your best results when the hyaluronic acid attracts to your body's water and you will get more plumping.  On average I tell my patients to expect best results in about 3-4 days.  However, when it comes to the lips since they are so vascular, I tell my patients "do not love or hate them for 2 weeks". There is always a chance you will need more, but I would recommend waiting 2 weeks.

Immediately after having an injection to the lips, you should already be able to see the changes. Keep in mind that some swelling may already be present and may give you a fuller look than the final result. Commonly, swelling can persist for a couple of days after the injection. I tell my patients to wait a full 2 weeks before judging the final result.  At that time, you can go back in and get more filler or a touch up, if you desire.

Hello Life in plastic,When it comes to fillers there is an immediate result that you are able to see.  Then over the course of a day or so some swelling can take place, especially with Juvederm in the lips.  Most fillers will also begin to hydrate during this time period.  The net result is that at two weeks you will truly see your final result.  If you wanted more augmentation that is the time you could consider it. I hope this helps and good luck.
