Juvederm in Nasolabial folds still swollen or overfilled?

Question

A week ago I had one syringe of Juvederm split between my nasolabial folds. I am happy with the results when I am not smiling but when I am it is uneven and puffy looking. I have attached my photos please let me know if it looks like swelling or should I make an appointment to have it dissolved.

Hi and thank you for your question. You may still have swelling, which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. From your pictures, its tough to see the unevenness you describe. I would go back to your injector at 2 weeks and have him or her check it out. I hope this helps.

Yes, you may still have swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Give fillers 2 weeks.  Swelling settles by then and then reassess.  If your not happy, let your injector know.  Best of luck

Dear faceproblems,Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD

It can take a full 2 weeks for final results with fillers. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

1 week is generally too soon to predict the final out come.  There is always swelling with hyaluronic acid fillers.  I would wait another week or two to see how it looks and rather than dissolve the Juvederm you have had injected, you could consider correcting any unevenness with more filler.  It's hard to tell in animation whether you are overfilled so resting photos would be helpful and that could affect your decision.  Good luck.

Sometimes you just can't win at both ends, you're happy when the nasolabial folds are filled when your face is at rest and you're not happy when you're smiling. You have to choose which one you like better either not having the treatment or having one. Good luck from New York City
