What should I tell my injector to achieve my desired lip shape with fillers? (Photo)

One of the ways to show your injector what you want is to bring in photos of lips you like, ie online pics, etc. However, your lips are your own and very unique. Your sides naturally curl down and that’s a feature that can only be changed with surgery. But short of that, your injector can simply add more volume to the lateral lips but more on the inside, in order to curl them outward. It takes an injector with experience and an artistic eye to achieve what you want. In our practice, i do injections and surgery. Would love to take care of you if possible. Good luck!

I recommend bringing in pictures or refer to after pictures provided by your injector. This may help your injector understand your needs better and you can discuss realistic results. Hope this helps. 

Dear verduram,I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns.
I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months.Daniel Barrett, MD

You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm). You can bring pictures of desired results or look at after photos performed by your Doctor. Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert to go over your desired results. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question! It's only been a few days since you had lip argumentation in addition to which you've developed some serious bruising which will slow down the process of healing. You have to be patient and give yourself a couple of weeks for the lips to heal. I would apply some moist, warm compresses to help the bruising resolve. Best of luck! 

Thank you for your question. First, I recommend searching for a new physician if you are unhappy with the previous provider's technique and results. You should start off with light filler to stretch the lips a little to get more fill. Typically, if the sides are collapsed, a good injector should be able to give you an even appearance with which you are happy. For best results, this should be gradual - sometimes if you do too much at once you can get the duck look. Be sure to find a physician that is experienced with fillers and that you are comfortable with. Best of luck to you!

Your injector needs to be experienced in fillers and you need to be sure to point out your goals in the mirror. I'd go so far as to say you should tell the injector (who I hope is a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist) to avoid injecting the cupid bow altogether. The area you need injected to achieve your goal is the undersurface of the lip where the upper lip would touch the lower lip when the mouth is closed. If the injector focuses on the lip border (vermillion) or cupid bow, it may enhance rather than soften the "caved in" look you describe, based on your anatomy from the photos.

I would seek consultation with a facial injecting expert who can show you many photos of patients they have treated.  Comparison with before photographs as well as an accurate description and/or photographs of exactly what you desire will be helpful.  Your best result may require dissolving some of the product used before, but you should be able to get a nice result.  Best wishesMKB

Since your lip proportions are so different from the central portion to the outer wings of the lip, I would recommend treating your lips in more than one session. What that means is that you should tell your injector to inject a portion of the Juvederm on one day and then come back 4 to 7 days later then have more Juvederm added so as to fill out the wings of the lip. In my extensive experience of using Juvederm for more than 20 years this is how I handled patients like yourself. Good luck from New York City
