It is very normal to have significant swelling of the lips after having filler injected.  The lips are very vascular, and as a result, swell considerably after being injected.  Swelling is asymmetric, and so it is not uncommon to look much more asymmetric while the swelling is present.  I would wait at least 2 weeks before deciding to have it dissolved, as the swelling should come down significantly.  

Swelling is typical after lip fillers. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Lips swell for up to two weeks. I suggest you ice and use antihistamines for now.  After two weeks if you are not happy then you reverse the filler.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Dear morgrosejones,Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD

Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can help reduce swelling by applying ice to the treated area(s). As HA fillers are not permanent you can have them dissolved with hyaluronidase if unhappy with the results.
