Boating post op? (photo)

Question

BA three weeks ago, surgeon says I would be OK to go on a 3 day boating trip post op 5 weeks. She assured me I would be fine but now I'm still feeling really sore &getting worried. The last thing I want is to be in pain noticeably..They do not know about my surgery. I plan to tell them my back is hurt to get out of water sports but I'm worried even sitting on the boat will have me in pain. A bought suits that provide a lot of support. if anyone can share their experience or advice please do so!

Hello,Thank you for your question. I agree that significant discomfort 5 weeks post op would not be expected and though your breasts may be slightly sensitive, this should not prevent you from enjoying yourself. Take it easy when you can.All the best

I agree with your surgeon. Sitting on the boat five weeks after surgery should be fine.  I advise my patients that if they are having a particularly rough day, they can alternate every two hours with ibuprofen and acetaminophen if they can tolerate those medications. For more information on this and

I would encourage you if possible to cancel your boating trip.  3 weeks is still early after breast augmentation surgery and if you are still uncomfortable you should avoid any activity which requires use of your upper arms.  It is best to avoid the potential for problems.  If you go on the trip and have difficulty you cannot go back.   If you are still very sore in 3 weeks C your plastic surgeon and ask if breast implant displacement exercises may help you recover more quickly.
