It is very common that the two ears are not pierced the same. If one ear is acceptable, then the procedure is to excise the hole that is "off" with a small incision. This is closed with one or two stitches which come out after 1 week. Then 6-8 weeks later the piercing can be redone.
Asymmetric piercings are common. The process to correct this issue is fairly straightforward and is performed in the procedure room at my clinic under local anesthesia. The first stage is to repair the "bad" piercing and the second stage is a re-piercing. I always have my patients interact with me during the piercing process. They hold a mirror during the design phase and approve all plans prior to implementation. I wish you well,Parker A. Velargo, MD
It is a very common problem to have asymmetric earlobe piercings. In our office, we correct these holes and repierce the earlobes to make them more symmetrical. Best, DR. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Without seeing a picture or examining you it is difficult to make specific recommendations, however in general this sounds like a completely reasonable request. Depending on how far away your current piercing is from where you want the new one you may have to wait 6 months to a year before re-piercing in order to avoid risking the earring migrating into the old opening. Book a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon near you to see what your options are. Best of luck!
Hi...fortunately, this is a straightforward process to fix. The procedure is done under local anesthetic in the office and has a straightforward recovery. Sutures are removed in 3-5 days, and you can re-pierce your ears in about three months. I wish you the best!
Earlobe repair is a very common procedure. Frequently, we have patients who will have the procedure done the same day as the consultation. Typically, the cost is between $450-850 per earlobe, depending on the severity and the length of the procedure. The length of time the ears have been gauged should have no effect on the procedure. As long as the tissue is no longer irritated or inflamed, there is no reason not to give it a try. Gauged ears are sometimes more difficult than some other earlobe repairs since the tissue is so over stretched, but we are still able to create a natural looking earlobe. You can get your ear re pierced about 6 weeks after and should be included in the pricing.
It's hard to know from your description exactly what issue you're wanting to have fixed. However, any piercing can be repaired with a brief in office repair and then re-pierced in a better position once you've healed.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
It is a fairly simple office procedure to close a pierced ear. You would then want to wait a couple of months before having the ear re-pierced to match the other ear.
This is definitely an option. Earlobe reconstruction is commonly performed to address complications relating to earlobe piercings. This includes asymmetric piercings, stretched or elongated piercings typically from years of heavy earring wear, torn piercing sites, or intentionally stretched piercings from spacers. To correct the off-centre piercing, local anesthetic is first injected into your earlobe. The piercing site (the entire tract extending from front to back of your earlobe) is then excised and stitched closed. The stitches are removed approximately one week later. I recommend for my patients to delay re-piercing the earlobe until 4-6 months post-operatively. This allows the wound to heal and scar to mature before wearing earrings in the affected earlobe.
Yes, this can be fixed! The procedure starts with a numbing injection to the area, followed by the excision of the inner edges of the piercing, then the incision will be closed with a few stitches. The stitches are removed in 5 days and you can re-pierce the ear in 2 months. Seek a consultation wit a board certified plastic surgeon for pricing information as it will vary. Good luck, Dean Vistnes.
Earlobe surgery is composed of several techniques that can either repair torn earlobes (split earlobes) or correct overly redundant earlobe tissue from piercings or genetics or stretching. Our HIDEF earlobe repair includes a recontouring of the earlobe contour using multilayered sutures to...
The swelling on the ear is still there, I would recommend waiting for the swelling to go down more and sutures to be removed before you really judge the look. Contact the surgeon with any questions or concerns. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Your case seems like an infection. First thing I advise for you to do is to make sure you no longer wear earrings. Clean the earlobe gently with hydrogen peroxide and note whether there is discharge from your ear (especially the color). However, the best treatment...
