The swelling on the ear is still there, I would recommend waiting for the swelling to go down more and sutures to be removed before you really judge the look. Contact the surgeon with any questions or concerns. Good luck.
Your earlobes look very pointy after your ear lobe repair. If a gauged or stretched earlobe is closed as a straight vertical line, and no skin/tissue is removed in the horizontal direction, than the earlobe will look like yours does. The resulting scar that I usually end up leaving is a small cross shaped scar, and that allows us to remove the tissue necessary to leave patients with a rounded "normal" appearing earlobe. Gauged and stretched ear lobe repair is more complex than repairing a simple torn piercing. I have found that skin must be removed in both the vertical and horizontal vectors in order to shorten the earlobe and avoid a pointy and elongated earlobe shape that you now have. Definitely speak with whoever repaired your earlobe and share your concerns. The good news for you is that your ear lobes can still be corrected and will end up looking just fine, but that will require another procedure. Thanks for sharing!
The shape of your earlobe may not change that much after the stitches are removed. There is some swelling present so you will have to give that time to subside to know what the final outcome of the ear lobe will be. Best thing you can do is express your concerns to the doctor who performed the surgery.
Thank you for your question. Your case seems like an infection. First thing I advise for you to do is to make sure you no longer wear earrings. Clean the earlobe gently with hydrogen peroxide and note whether there is discharge from your ear (especially the color). However, the best treatment...
Thank you for your question. I would say it is best to wait 6 months before re-piercing your ears to make sure the ears are stable. You should consult your surgeon to see what he thinks is best.Best of luck to you,Dr. Peter Newen
Yes. There are many of us that enjoy doing local flaps in the area to recreate the volume of an earlobe. Occasionally it will take a revision procedure as well to really fine tune the result.
