I had a procedure done with Dr.Power about 2ish weeks ago and from consultation to follow up I’ve had a great experience. Her and her staff are professional and welcoming. Dr.Power is thorough and truly cares about her patients. She made me feel comfortable and safe. The actual procedure was quick and easy. I had questions afterwards and she never made me feel like a bother. I would 100% recommend her and would go back for other procedures.
I had a cosmetic procedure done by Dr. Stephanie Power back in November. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Dr. Power has a beautiful office with a welcoming environment! Dr. Power and her team made sure that I felt comfortable throughout my process. My surgery went perfect as well as my healing journey. During my surgery I felt calm and comfortable during my procedure. I spoke with Madison and Olivia via email and in office during this process and they were very helpful and professional. I am so so happy that I chose to have my procedure done with Dr. Power as I am very very happy with my results and had an amazing process!
I am really glad that I chose Dr. Power as my surgeon for Labiaplasty. Since this was my first time ever undergoing surgery, I was super nervous. However, Dr. Power reassured me that this was going to be a quick and easy procedure and that I would LOVE the results. She was absolutely right - I am so happy I went through with this surgery. On the day of my surgery, I applied the Emla Numbing Cream which I was told to pick up from the pharmacy. This was applied 1 hour before I was scheduled to come in. I decided also to take an Uber to and from the clinic since I live 45 minutes away and I had no idea what to expect (pain-wise). I made sure I packed my Tylenol 3’s, an ice pack, and sweat pants for after my surgery as well. When I arrived at the clinic, Dr. Power showed me exactly what she was going to do and I gave her the “okay” to start. The most painful part of the procedure was getting sedated by the local anesthesia - maybe 10 seconds of pain per side (felt like a strong pinch). Following the sedation, I felt nothing at all, and the surgery was done within an hour. At this point, I was still numb and felt no pain at all. I took an Uber home and made sure to put the ice pack between my legs (under my sweats). The moment I got home, I popped two T 3’s and went straight to bed. I spent the entire day laying down in bed with an ice pack between my legs. The peak of my pain started 3 hours post-op. The pain was bearable - nothing drastic, kinda felt like the area was bruised. I experienced some bleeding every time I got up to use the bathroom, but Dr. Power explained that this was from gravity when you stand up so totally understandable. I continued to take 2 Tylenol 3’s every 4 hours for the first day. I stopped taking my Tylenol after the first day since I felt no pain following the first day. I am also lucky enough to have experienced no side effects from the Tylenol which is a first for me! I also apply Vaseline to the area at least 3 times a day, and take a shower every day and allow warm soapy water to run over the stitches - no touching. After the first day, the bleeding started slowing down and has turned into a spotting amount. I am very glad that this has become such an easy recovery for me and I am scheduled to see Dr. Power again 10 days post-op.
Dr. Power changed my life with a mommy makeover on October 8, 2020! I had a breast lift with reduction and a tummy tuck with muscle repair. After having a c-section birth, my body just simply wasn’t the same. My breasts drooped down to my belly button and my tummy sagged and hung over. Looking at my naked body in the mirror began to make me depressed. This is when I knew it was time for a change. Fast forward to today — my breasts are perky, and my stomach is flat and toned! I have never felt more confident in my appearance and I am ecstatic about being able to finally wear whatever I want and feel good about myself! First off, I am not an easy patient. I have a science background. I like to do my research and had tons of questions because I knew that elective cosmetic surgery is a major decision. If I was going to go through with this, I wanted the best of the best to operate on me. I booked consultations with multiple top surgeons in Toronto. In the end, I went with Dr. Power because I felt the most comfortable with her and her dedication to me as her patient was unmatched! Dr. Power would answer my emails filled with medical questions no matter what time of day or night. Dr. Power was extremely knowledgable and reassuring the entire way through. She helped me to make the best and safest decision with her expert medical opinion! In addition, I have never waited longer than 5 minutes in her office! Dr. Power is incredibly punctual and her bedside manner is wonderful. She truly makes you feel valued as her patient. It has been 6 weeks and I am still in awe of my results. My recovery has been great. My scars are healing beautifully. Her stitch work is truly a craft in itself. I have zero concerns but nevertheless Dr. Power always reminds me that she is just a phone call away. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Power for her kindness and meticulous work. She is seriously the best. Look no further! Thank you for Dr. Power for giving me this newfound confidence!
From the in phone consultation nothing but great customer service. I reached out after reading some google reviews And dr power called me herself to talk about the procedure I wanted, she was very good at answering my questions, very professional friendly, and approachable not only during the planning process but throughout the whole process. The facilities are top-notch and her rates are reasonable ( lower cost than the competition) Dr. Power was very quick to respond anytime I had any aftercare questions. She was very good at providing realistic expectations and explained that even after surgery it was up to myself to help my body achieve the results I wanted by making a few changes on my lifestyle. It has been just over 3 months since my procedure and I’m blown away by the results.
RESULTS/BACKGROUND:Nine days post-op and I'm really happy with the results so far. this procedure is definitely life-changing; I am so happy I got it done and I have no regrets. I researched a lot of places and Im really happy I went with dr. power's office. I will update again on the *FINAL* results in about a month or so (probably with before/after pics).I'm 21 & my concerns going in were all about the right labia minora and the right clitoral hood. my right labia minora was long and extended outside of my Labia Majora, it was dark and wrinkled. the clitoral hood that connected to it was also large with excess tissue. my left side had a small labia minora that wasn't protruding/didnt concern me much.CONSULTATION:After the consultation, I decided on trim labiaplasty on one side + clitoral hood reduction.I was a little nervous about a trim because I have pigmentation in this area. so if I only got a trim on one side, I thought the side that wasn't touched may look odd because after a trim, the new skin is lighter/pink. but honestly, having it done I'm really happy with the colour outcome, it blends together seamlessly.I was also a little nervous about how well Dr. Power could match the labia to the one that wasn't being touched. I wasn't looking for an absolute copy of both labias, but for them to be as close as possible.Dr. Power did get them to be very close and I am satisfied with the result so far (keep in mind I'm writing this 9 days after the operation, so the results should look even better in a few months since the area is a little swollen still).I also wasn't sure if I should even get the clitoral hood reduction - but I didn't want a "top heavy" look so I did. I'm really glad that I did get it because only removing the labia minora would not have looked as good in my case.Cost breakdown (August 2020):- unilateral trim labiaplasty (local anesthesia): 2400- clitoral hood reduction 1240HST: (13%) 473.2TOTAL $4,113.20PREP:Before the procedure, I bought a spray bottle, ice packs, good quality heavy pads, good quality liners, EMLA numbing cream, plain soap.If driving to/from the procedure, be mindful of where to park (the lot nearby at avenue/pears was really full so I parked at a Yorkville garage that was really crowded then Uber'd).PROCEDURE:Worst part was the injections of local anesthesia but they were done quickly, after that it was all smooth, felt NO pain. I listened to music during the procedure so I didn't hear anything going on.I got my period the day before the procedure so there was quite a bit of blood, a combination of the operation + my period I guess.Recovery process:DAY ONE: I drove myself home (1 hour) and the drive was uncomfortable but bearable. I brought an ice pack and frozen water bottle with me to the surgery (dr. power stored it in the freezer during the procedure) & I kept the frozen water bottle between my legs as I drove home. I bought fast food on the way back so I wouldn't have to worry about dinner. as soon as I got home, I took two Tylenol 3's and I began icing the area. With the Tylenol 3's + ice, I felt great, I didn't feel much pain/discomfort at all. I took another two Tylenol 3's about 6 hours later to ensure I would fall asleep easily (I only used 4 pills from the bottle in total).DAY TWO: laid in bed the entire day, just icing the area. again, I felt VERYY mild discomfort/pain. your able to shower 24 hours later so I took a shower carefully avoiding any direct water pressure on this area. I bought a spray bottle and filled it with warm water. I used this to mist the area. I also used a bucket of soap water to gently pour over this area. I also used bar soap (not directly, I applied it on my hands then used my hands on the treated area).Biggest tip: ice is so important to prevent swelling and also ease discomfort/pain. I kept one ice pack and water bottle on the area, while I had another ice pack and another water bottle in the freezer to rotate. I got the medium sized ice packs from dollarama and I used regular 500mL water bottles.DAY THREE: icing slowed down. I was still walking a little funny (not quite noticeable) but I iced for about half the amount of time.DAY FOUR-NINE: no icing, I am cautious around the area bc the stitches are still there, but I feel and walk fine now.OVERALL: would recommend 100% if this is something that's been bothering you. I will post a final update on my thoughts in a month.
This was the first time I had a surgical procedure done so I was nervous. However, Dr. Power was amazing throughout the entire process. At the early stages she explained everything that I should expect and outlined all of the things I would need to do. I was awake when she did the procedure and she clearly gave me a sense of comfort that she was excellent at what she does. Afterwards, everything went exactly as I expected and I am able to see much better now that my eyelids don't cover my pupils. I'm very glad that I had Dr. Power so the procedure and I would recommend her to everyone.
I know it's only been a day, however I read a lot of reviews on here, and did a LOT of research before I had my procedure, and I wanted to share my experience. Dr. Power did a consult with me in February, and I was so impressed. She is down to earth, reassuring, and so professional. We even joked around a little bit, and that put me at ease. As the clinic has had to close for the COVID crisis, I was the last patient in to have a procedure before they shut down yesterday. I had a bilateral trim to remove about 3cm of skin. To the details of the procedure: - I used EMLA cream to numb the area about an hour beforehand. Stung for a few minutes, but I wasn't sure if it had worked until I went to the ladies room. Oh yea. All numb. - I was brought in to the small procedure room, Dr. Power drew on lines to show where she would trim and had me approve it. - Worst part? Freezing. 4/10 for the right side (for about 3 second), and 6/10 for the left side (for about 5 seconds). 8 seconds of discomfort. - Completely numb for the procedure, which took about 1/2 hour. She showed me the result (saying it was the worst it would look) and it didn't even look too bad! - I took 2 Tylenol3 at the clinic and my husband drove us home. I crashed on the couch and drank water and applied my rotating ice packs. Unfortunately, I did have ALL the side effects of the Tylenol3 (my bad, I thought I had had it before without any problems, but I got the hot / cold sweats, nausea, dizziness, general awfulness for about an hour. I did not take another pill, went to regular Tylenol after that, and it's fine. - First night sleep? Fine! I'm a side sleeper, so it sort of is difficult to not roll over, but I managed. Not too much pain at all. 2/10. - Getting up today, I could feel the swelling come back a little bit (gravity!) so I've iced again, and will continue to do so throughout the day, but I'm sitting on a yoga ball without any discomfort. I will follow up with Dr. Power in 10 days, however if this is the worst day, my only problem will be keeping quiet and not doing too much. I wish I had done this sooner. Additional note: I would describe my pain tolerance as poor. I am not a trooper. If I had this experience, anyone who is afraid can also do it :) It's totally fine, just follow instructions, apply your ice, and watch out for the Tylenol3!
I had a breast lift with implants performed March 2019 by Dr. Power. I’ve been wanting implants ever since I could remember. After drastically losing weight (over 100lbs) in my early 20’s, my breasts were left saggy and deformed. Being self conscious about my breasts, I really wanted a female doctor. I started researching plastic surgeons in the Toronto area and quickly was intrigued by Dr. Power based on her reviews on google. She had pages of positive affirmations about her kindness, knowledge, precision and bedside manner. I sent an email to book a consultation on a Sunday and by Monday morning her consultant Jennifer called me to book an appointment (which I made for the following week). My consultation was fabulous. Dr. Power and Jennifer made me feel comfortable and I felt justified and heard with my concerns about my breasts. I booked my surgery about a month after my consult. My surgery was a breeze. I followed all of Dr. Power’s post op instructions and I healed perfectly. I am THRILLED with my results! I couldn’t have asked for anything better. My scars are almost non-existent 3 months later and my breasts are everything I dreamed they would be. I’ve never felt so calm and at ease in a doctors presence than I have with Dr. Power and her team. She and Jennifer truly care about their patients. Any concerns I had I was quickly responded to with comforting assurance. Every post-op appointment I was welcomed as if I was an old friend. I HIGHLY recommend booking a consult with Dr. Power if you are interested in having a cosmetic procedure. She will be the only plastic surgeon I will ever return to.
I did a lot of research and it paid off. I couldn't be happier with the service I received at Power Plastic Surgery from beginning to end. I am 8 days post op on my upper eyelid surgery. I thought about it for years (over a decade actually) but was afraid and hesitant. It's my face so I wanted to be super picky about my surgeon. I wanted results but natural looking results. I went in for my initial consultation and I liked Dr. Power right away. She took as much time as needed to answer all my questions and we discussed my eyes together and I did not feel pressured in any way. She's a smart, kind, and talented surgeon - all qualities I wanted in someone who would be working around my eyes. I decided after that initial consultation that if I was brave enough to go through with it, that I would go with Dr. Power. Months later I got brave and said yes. The office, support, and surgical staff were ALL amazing. I was super comfortable throughout and was well taken care of. I'm terrified of needles so I'm a "special" patient to deal with, and it all went smoothly. Just over a week after my surgery I'm already so happy with the results and I'm soooo glad I did it. I wish I had the courage 10 years ago but hey, I did it and my eyes look fantastic. Dr. Power said they'll look even better once the swelling goes down. I can't wait!! I'm going to treat myself with some sparkle eyeshadow when they're totally healed :)
Hi Beth, Fortunately the majority of patients are happy with their results from cosmetic surgery! Although rates vary based on the specific type of cosmetic surgery, satisfaction rates are generally high and need for revision surgery is low. RealSelf shows interesting stats regarding this point. It is definitely not a negative to report history of satisfaction following previous surgery. I would recommend disclosing your complete medical and surgical history to your surgeon. There are several challenges when performing revision surgery after another surgeon performed the original procedure. It may be difficult to know exactly which technique was performed, which may affect options for further surgery. For example, for revision breast surgery it’s critical to know which blood supply was maintained to the nipple, otherwise serious healing complications may result. Obtaining a copy of original OR records is key. Plastic surgery is also interesting given the interplay between surgical and psychological factors. Rarely a patient may have great results when objectively evaluated yet still not be pleased. In these cases, it would be a disservice to the patient to perform further surgery given increased risk of dissatisfaction regardless of the outcome. Revision surgery is also more difficult regardless who performed the primary surgery given increased scar tissue and distortion of anatomy. Good luck with the last step of your plastic surgery journey! Dr. Power
Hi Katt,After a general anesthetic, you will need someone to stay with you for at least 24 hours — whether a friend or family member or personal nurse. At my facility we offer overnight stays for monitoring, pain control, and assistance with showering and early aftercare. Two nurses stay with you prior to discharge the following AM. While it is not required for all patients, it’s often helpful for patients coming from out of town or those without companions. There are also community nurses who may be hired if you decide to stay in a hotel or Airbnb locally. It’s important to discuss your particular case with your plastic surgeon to determine the number of days recommended to stay in the area prior to returning home, return for follow up, etc.Best of luck!Dr. Power
Patients generally do not need to have any tests performed before consultation. The appropriate work up (bloodwork +/- any additional tests if indicated based on your clinical examination and history) will be ordered by your plastic surgeon before surgery. Time between consultation and surgery varies between offices. In my practice, 2 weeks is generally the minimum booking time. I don’t think it’s a good idea to rush into surgery and it’s important to review all labs before proceeding to ensure you are otherwise healthy. There’s no need to take supplements before surgery unless deficient. Certain meds including over-the-counter anti-inflammatories may need to be stopped a few weeks before surgery, so be sure to ask your surgeon re recommendations. Good luck with your plastic surgery journey!Dr. Power
Your current body mass index is over 45, which is unfortunately not within a healthy range for elective surgery. Liposuction is not an effective technique for weight reduction. It may be performed for contour improvement of persistent fatty deposits that are unresponsive to diet and exercise in patients close to their ideal body weight. It is not effective for overall weight reduction. I recommend discussing your weight concerns with your family physician. You may be a candidate for bariatric surgery to achieve weight reduction and to lower risk of associated health conditions. Best, Stephanie Power MD, MSc, FRCSC
At one month post-injection, I think the risk of your swimming googles shifting the filler is remote.Best, Stephanie Power MD, MSc, FRCSC
