Is 1 cc of Restylane Lyft and 1cc Restylane Silk for volume loss and aging around mouth enough for significant results? (Photo)

I saw a dermatologist for early signs of aging. Im 37 and noticing aging around my lower face. The dermatologist recommended 1 cc restylane lyft to mid cheeks and 1 cc of restylane silk around the mouth. I am concerned that this will not result in significant enough difference. Is this the correct combination or amount that you would recommend?

Placing 0.5cc of Restylane Lyft in each side of the midface will yield very minimal results. I normally begin with 1cc of Lyft in each side, otherwise the effect and longevity will be minimal.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  I would recommend at least one syringe of Lyft or Voluma for each cheek and a thicker product in the lower face like standard Restylane or Juvederm Ultra Plus/ Vollure. It often takes more filler than you anticipate to make a noticeable change,especially once the swelling resolves.  Hope this helps.

A combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend fillers for the folds themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. Finding the right starting point for filler can be tricky. You want to achieve your aesthetic goals, but you don't want to look overdone. As with many things, it's always better to start of slow and then add more as needed. Since every patient is different, you may or may not need the same amount as someone else.

Finding the right starting point for filler is sometimes a difficult question.  You want to get enough, but not too much.  Starting with a little bit and coming back a few weeks to month later is a very safe, consistent, and reproducible way to subtly change your look and not have an overdone appearance.  Make sure you go to a competent and qualified provider who understands your goals, is knowledgeable about facial anatomy, and is able to take care of any complications that may arise.  Pricing will vary but don't be afraid to pay a little more for the quality of a board-certified plastic surgeon to perform the injections.  Also, inquire about onsite hyaluronidase.  Fortunately, complications after filler injections are quite rare but when they do occur, they must be treated immediately.  All too often, providers set themselves up to do the injections but are not set up to handle the rare complications.  Make sure the provider you choose has the necessary items at hand to render treatment immediately if a complication should occur.

I would recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon in regards to your concerns. 1cc of any filler is 1/5 of a teaspoon, so it’s a small amount. If you use small amounts, you will see small changes. It’s important to remember that it’s easier to add more than to take away, but on the same note, I’d rather hit the volume right on rather than have to have someone come back for more filler. The cheeks can handle more than 1cc easily. It all depends on what exactly bothers you and thus best to have a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

I agree with your dermatologist. You do not require much to enhance and restore your natural shape. It is important to always look natural. And remember that it is much easier to add more volume than take away! You don't want to end up looking like you're "overcooked" do you?However, if your expectations are way beyond what fillers can achieve then perhaps you should have another consultation to ensure your goals have been considered.

It certainly may be enough, especially if you are looking for a more natural look.  I would be inclined to use a more substantial filler like Refyne or Defyne rather than Silk in the lower face.  You can always add more if it doesn't meet your needs.
