I had Restylane lyft injection 8/2016, then 2 more, that caused a terrible reaction of continuous swelling, redness, pain that continues today 7/17. I had it dissolved in Feb but flare ups continue, 3 rounds of antibiotics, Dr dx biofilm infection. I have seen 3 other Derms that confirm Rest.Lyft is not to be injected under eyes. My life has been greatly affected by this because the wrong filler was used. Why do I continue to have pain, redness, swelling after so long and after it was dissolved?
Answer: Under Eye swelling thank you for your transparency and pictures, it can be difficult to post this stuff. I agree with the other doctors, I don't use lyft under the eyes. I have heard of practitioners doing so with results they like, but I don't do it. The great news is that this treatment can be dissolved away using Hyaluronidase. Antibiotics also need to be in the regimen to get rid of what appears to be an infection. Hope this helps and God Bless! Dr. Robb

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Still having problems... Thanks for your question. Restylane Lyft is not that great in the under eyes. I agree. You need to have more hyaluronidase injected, in my opinion. IF you're still having symptoms then dissolve, dissolve, and dissolve. See an expert in your area for this type of work. Imaging and long-term antibiotics might help.Good luck. Dr. ALDO

Answer: Problems with biofilm after injection around eyes. Please don't blame the Lyft for your problems. Although it is not the prefered filler for this area, it is not the cause of your problems. Keep in mind that there is no FDA filler approved for this area but it is commonly injected "off label". The problem is related to infection. This most likely occurs during placement of the filler. This can happen to any filler if sterile technique is not adhered to. In cases like these it is proper to use hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler and start antibiotics. If you are not responding, the antibiotic is not effectively covering the infection and it should be changed. Biaxin is a good antibiotic for this (if it hasn't been tried) and should be given for several weeks. This can be an infection with mycobaterium and that requires a different group of antibiotics.

Answer: Under Eye Reaction Hi there Kim, I have extensive experience with Restylane Lyft. Hopefully I can help. This definitely looks like an adverse reaction to the filler, and Lyft is a harder filler that I wouldn't typically use on the under eye area on my clients. It seems that the filler did not work for you in this case and you've already pursued treatment of this, but I would recommend seeing another doctor to see what other treatment options you have. This still looks like an infection could possibly be in there, so it's best to see what a second opinion could bring. This looks like you may need more hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler or antibiotics if infection is there.
